We all know the famous YouTuber Rahim Pardesi and his on-screen character “Nasreen”. We recently featured the guy on an episode of PakWheels Owner’s Review series, where Pardesi gave a review of his car, KIA Sportage AWD. Guess what we found out? Rahim Pardesi was a KIA user back in 2006 and not a happy one. He had an unpleasant history with Sportage. So, how did KIA turn a bitter ex of Sportage into a lover?
What happened in the past?
Pardesi’s father bought the 2nd generation KIA Sportage, which was an unsuccessful car. That experience left a bad impression of KIA on the whole family. “I thought I would never ever go back to KIA”, said Rahim Pardesi.
For the record, KIA had a rough patch in the Pakistani auto industry from 2006 to 2008. The company’s local partner at the time, Dewan Farooque Motor Company Limited (DFML), went bankrupt. So, KIA had to pack its bags and leave Pakistan.
What changed his mind?
When KIA made a comeback in Pakistan in 2019, it brought a strong player this time, the 4th generation KIA Sportage. The latest and modern SUV had everything to win the hearts of Pakistani buyers, like Rahim Pardesi. Luckily, this time things went according to plan.
“When I first saw the new KIA Sportage on the road, my first impression was like, is this Porsche Cayenne? The car looked stunning, and I was intrigued to find out more about it”, said Pardesi.
He took a test drive of the car and absolutely loved it. Even though he had bitter memories of the past, he had to admit KIA brought its A-game this time. Everything about the new Sportage, the drive, looks, interior, and features, drew him closer to the decision of giving the car another try.
How does he feel about his new car, the KIA Sportage?
Rahim Pardesi bought KIA Sportage AWD from its previous owner in Rs. 52 lacs, and boy, is he in love with his new car. It’s been three months, and he has driven it around 6,000 kilometers.
“I really have no complaints this time. The new KIA Sportage is an amazing car. I have driven it in the city and even travelled on a long route with my whole family. I am delighted with the overall drive and feel of this car”, said Pardesi.
Which car would he buy after Sportage?
The exciting bit about KIA winning an ex-customer back is that now he is a loyal fan of this brand. “I have my eye on the new KIA Sorento. It’s a Sportage but with seven seats, and that’s exactly what I need.”
