Hyundai failed to sell even a Single unit of Sedan in July

Automakers in Pakistan are feeling the heat after the incumbent government’s indelicate handling of the economic situation. Dolarisation, growing profile of inflation, and imposition of massive taxes led to price hikes, booking suspensions, and production cuts.

All the scenarios described above shattered the automakers sales charts. Following Toyota and Suzuki, Hyundai’s month-on-month (MoM) sales observed an 89 percent dip. Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report has revealed that the company failed to sell even a single unit of its Sedans Sonata and Elantra. As per PAMA report, Hyundai Nishat collectively sold 213 units last month.

Toyota Indus witness 60% Dip

Toyota Indus Motor Pakistan (IMC) has observed the record lowest sales in two years – a 60 percent decline in July 2022.

A company official has revealed that the company sold 2,375 CKD units (Corolla, Yaris, Fortuner, Hilux) in July 2022. Sales dropped due to production limitations imposed by SBP, he added. Mind you, this is the first time the company sold less than 2500 units in 2022.

And surprisingly, the worst figures are yet to be exhibited. The company witnessed the least figures in May 2020 – sold only 500 units. It took place during a countrywide lockdown when COVID 19 hit the boundaries.

Suzuki Also Faces the Same Fate

The company’s sales observed a massive downturn in July 2022, selling fewer than 6800 units. Meanwhile, the automaker witnessed a month-on-month (MoM) fall of over 60%.

It is pertinent to mention that Suzuki Alto has always been the company’s best-selling car. And again, when the sales charts are groaning under the weight, the car proves to be a lifeline for the company. Sources have revealed that the company sold 4600 units of Suzuki Alto, and Surprisingly, not more than 500 units of any other model.
