Hyundai Sonata is going to be a new entrant in the market, as Hyundai-Nishat unveiled the car in a private event last weekend. However, opposite to the expectations, it was revealed that the company would launch it in two variants, i.e., 2000cc and 2500cc. As we have reported earlier, there are only three additional features in 2500cc: Power Rear Sunshade, Head-Up Display, and 6 Airbags. The rest of the options in both cars are the same.

Sonata is a C-segment Premium vehicle, which will compete for the cars like Honda Accord. So, we decided to compare these two vehicles so that the buyers can make an educated guess.

Engine and Transmission:

Sonata comes with two engine options 2000cc DOHC 16-Valve Dual CVVT and 2500cc Smart Stream 2.5 MPi. The first one produces 152hp and 192Nm Torque, against 180hp and 232Nm torque of 2500cc. In comparison, Honda Accord has a 1498cc DOHC 16-Valve VTEC engine, generating 180hp and 233Nm torque. It means, although Accord’s engine is smaller in size, but produces equal horsepower and torque to the 2500cc Sonata variant. Both cars of Sonata come with 6-Speed Automatic, while Accord has a CVT + Earth Dreams Technology transmission. Lastly, Sonata cars have 5 Driving Modes, i.e., Smart/Sport/Eco/Custom/Comfort, while Honda’s car has ECON/ECON Assist and Sports Driving Modes.

Exterior:

Both Sonatas have Tetra LED Projection Headlights, Gradient Hidden Light Technology DRLS and Horizontal LED Rear Combination Taillights, while in Accord Headlights, DRLs, and Rear Lamps are all LED. Hyundai has offered Rear Fog Lamps, which are not offered in Honda Accord. All three vehicles come with Panoramic Sunroof and Rain Sensing Wipers.

Coming to Wheels, all three have 18-inch Alloy Wheels, while Spare Tyre also has Alloy Rim. All three have the same brake system, i.e., Ventilated (Front), Solid Disc (Rear).

Interior:

The seat material in these three is Leather, while Driver Seats are 10-Way Powered and Passenger Seats are 4-Way Powered. All three offer Lumbar Support in Driver Seat. Furthermore, both Sonata variants have 12.3-Inch High-Resolution TFT LCD, while Accord offers Analogue Dials. The size of the Infotainment Unit is 8-inch in all of them.

Both Honda and Hyundai offer Dual Zone Auto Climate Control with Rear AC vents as well as Wireless Charger. Now let’s discuss the differences; only Sonata 2500cc offers Power Rear Sunshade and Head-Up Display.

Safety:

The 2000cc Sonata has 2 Airbags, while its 2500cc variant and Honda Accord come with 6 Airbags, each. Furthermore, features like Hill-Start Assist (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (SAC), Traction Control System (TCS), Parking Sensors, Cruise Control and Rear Camera with Dynamic Guidelines are offered in these three vehicles.

The other security features of these cars include Smart Trunk Opener, Keyless Entry, and Remote Engine Start. This comparison shows that these vehicles are primarily similar and offer largely similar specs and features.

Price:

The price of Honda Accord is Rs11,999,000, while the price of Hyundai Sonata 2000cc is Rs6,399,000 and rate of 2500cc is Rs7,099,000.

There is an error both cars are midsize segment it’s mean D segment cars, not C Segment.
C segment is compact sedan like Honda civic and Hyundai Elantra.
Honda accord may got a better fuel mileage but again the price is very high and will see how much will the price of Sonata will be. Anyway both are good i expect an affordable price for the Sonata and i hope Honda would bring down his prices too.
Personaly i would go for the accord over Sonata but the price….
