Four units of Hyundai STARIAt have been spotted in Emporium Mall Lahore parking. Now we are wondering if Hyundai-Nishat is gearing up to launch an MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) in the market again. Yes, Hyundai has tried to sell an MPV in Pakistan once before. But, unfortunately, it didn’t work out.
The company introduced Hyundai Grand Starex in 2019. That time, they were offering the MPV in imported CBU (Completely Built-Up) units. The Grand Starex was supposed to be a competition of KIA Grand Carnival, and so is Hyundai STARIA. But Grand Starex couldn’t come near the sales of Grand Carnival, so let’s see what happens with STARIA.
Hyundai STARIA and KIA Grand Carnival go head to head in their home market, South Korea. The MPV pair are cousins just like Hyundai Tucson and KIA Sportage.

Specs & Features of Hyundai STARIA
Hyundai STARIA is a 9-seater MPV with a Smartstream G3.5 6-cylinder engine with 3470cc displacement, producing 268 horsepower and 331 Nm of torque. The car is a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Other salient features include LED headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), power sliding doors, power tailgate, 19-inch alloy wheels, auto climate control, 10.25inch infotainment system, six airbags, smart key entry, immobilizer, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), and HAC (Hill-start Assist Control).
After Tucson, Elantra, and Sonata, STARIA will be an excellent addition to Hyundai’s car lineup in Pakistan. We hope the company launches the car soon and prices it reasonably.

I think is better for Hyundai to launch the Hyundai Palisade, we can see the success of Sonata, Palisade got the chance to success here as well.
This Hyundai Staria isn’t beautiful i don’t think it will sale well. For the same engine size as Kia carnival but limited to 9 seat where kia is up to 11, it will be difficult for this staria to gain customers.
Staria can’t compete Carnival as the later is a Class of it’s own and has captured market as well to some extent. Hyundai needs to develop Tucson, Elantra and other small vehicle but not Staria …. not impressive and likely to be another Starex or Ioniq ie FAILED!
