1 13,260

With the global auto industry making strides towards sustainable development, Toyota, initially the stern supporter of the hybrids, have also started exploring the green technology. The wait for Toyota’s first electric car (SUV) is nearly over, with an official unveiling scheduled for March 11 (March 12 in Central Europe).

From Concept to Reality

If you recall the bZ Compact SUV Concept from 2022, you’re in for a treat. Toyota has teased an upcoming EV that strongly resembles that concept, confirming it’s now becoming a production model. The teaser image reveals a sleek fastback design, muscular rear haunches, and sculpted front fenders, suggesting a dynamic stance.

Toyota promises “surprising space, comfort, and versatility” alongside “elevated driving dynamics,” hinting at a well-balanced package that blends practicality with performance.

The company has yet to disclose the crossover’s official name, and reports suggest it may drop the bZ branding, even for the existing bZ4X. A shift to more conventional naming could signal a new direction for Toyota’s EV strategy, making its lineup more accessible to consumers.

Expected Specs & Features

Technical details remain scarce, but the concept measured 4.54 meters (178.7 inches) in length and 1.56 meters (61.4 inches) in height, making it shorter and lower than the bZ4X. While power figures and battery sizes haven’t been revealed, Toyota’s Urban Cruiser EV, a smaller SUV, offers 49 kWh and 61 kWh packs, indicating a possible benchmark for this new model.

With competition intensifying in the EV space, Toyota’s first dedicated electric SUV could be a turning point for the brand. Whether it introduces groundbreaking innovations or plays it safe remains to be seen—but the excitement is building as the reveal date approaches.

    Dear Author,
Now I know why my comments have been pushed on for moderation, while meaningless comments from Ali Khan are finding their ways on your articles. Like him you like creating story out of thin air. Since when Toyota has been a stern supporter of hybrids? It has been working towards carbon neutrality since 2014. First offering included hydrogen fuel cell that has now been integrated in Kenworth semi-truck too. Second offering included BZ. Third offering includes hybrid. Also, tell me please, does carbon neutrality means EV only? Or does that mean finding means for reducing emissions?
By the way, I hate to break it you, but China, even today, stands as the most polluting country in this world. Reason, it is creating energy from coal, so stupid EVs are using that electricity to charge up. Thereby, neutralizing their emissions. So please, in future maintain decorum and write unbiasedly. Thanks.
