Today we’re back with the owner’s review of a very special car owned by Habib who is a renowned car vlogger and also a car enthusiast. This review features his 1995 Indus Corolla eminently known as “Lalo”. This is the 7th generation Corolla known as the E100 which was offered with two petrol engines- a 1.3 liter carburetor and 1.6 liter fuel injected unit as well as a 2.0 liter diesel engine.

Manual transmission was a primary offering while an automatic transmission was available in selected variants. This particular car is the 1.6 GLI which produces 110hp and 145 nm of torque paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Modification Process

This car was previously in use of the owner’s father in stock condition and he bought it for 6.5 lacs. When Habib got this car, he decided to modify it according to his liking. He got it freshly painted in its original maroon colour, lowered the car with coil overs and installed low profile tyres along with new alloys. He also added an HKS exhaust along with several minor changes. The car was mechanically perfect so he only spent money on the beautification. The whole modification process took around 3 months and it cost around 2.5 lacs.

Price Range

As per the owner, if someone wants to start a project with the Indus Corolla, a stock car starts from 8 lacs and goes up to 13 to 14 lacs. The modification cost is around 2 to 3 lacs depending on the parts installed.

Fuel Average

As per the owner, the car gives around 11 to 12 km/l within city which is not bad. The owner has installed an aftermarket exhaust but says that it has no impact on fuel average.

Spare Parts

According to the owner, parts availability is not a big issue and are readily available in local markets. Prices are also not too high but sellers often charge high prices for good quality parts.

Maintenance

The owner maintains the car from a local workshop every 3000 kms. He previously used havoline engine oil but now uses kixx 20w50 as the engine is overhauled. Maintenance cost is nominal as it is on its stock engine.

Drawbacks

As the car is very low, the main drawback is the ground clearance which causes problems over speed breakers and the car has to be maneuvered carefully. Due to the coilovers, the car is also prone to suspension and steering rack issues. Moreover, the owner really misses a sunroof which he thinks would have added greatly to the aesthetics of the car.
