In an effort to revolutionize public transportation and provide convenient options for residents, the Sindh Transport Minister, Sharjeel Memon, announced the launch of a pink electric taxi service in Karachi. This initiative aims to address the challenges faced by the public transportation sector and promote environment-friendly transport in the city.
Phase 1 Of Pink Electric Taxis
The project will be rolled out in multiple phases, with the first phase introducing more than 200 electric taxis. Notably, 50 of these taxis will be designated as pink taxis, exclusively for female passengers. Minister Memon emphasized that this step aims to provide women with safe and reliable transportation options, considering the increased fares of existing ride-hailing services.
