Today we’re back with a walkaround review of the Kia Niro Hybrid. With fuel prices skyrocketing and the EV revolution far off in Pakistan, hybrid vehicles are a good choice to consider shifting to. In this review, we will catch a glimpse of the Kia Niro, a Hybrid crossover from Kia rich in features while providing an astonishing fuel average.

Debuting in 2016, Niro was one of the first hybrid cars introduced by Kia, soon after which its electric variant was launched in 2018. This particular car comes with a 1.6 liter GDI engine mated with a lithium-ion battery generating a combined output of 139 hp and 295 nm of torque. This engine is configured with a 6-speed DCT transmission which drives the front wheels.

Exterior

Starting off with the exterior, the headlamps are large and bold with bi-xenon projections. You also get to see Kia’s signature tiger nose grille, which complements the front fascia pretty well. The bumper gets parking sensors, mesh silver garnishes, and daytime running lights mounted below.

Coming to the sides, the most attractive feature here is the 18-inch alloy wheels. Door handles are chrome molded with the smart entry on the front doors. The rear profile is the most appealing bit of the exterior, with large LED tail lamps and a gloss black roof spoiler giving it some character.

Interior

Inside the Kia Niro’s interior, the overall design language is pretty basic and functional. The quality, however, is very good relative to local cars, with solid materials and a hefty feel for the buttons and knobs. It comes with electric leather seats, which are very well cushioned, a partially digital instrument cluster, and a pretty small infotainment screen in the middle. Space-wise, there is plenty of headroom and legroom in the Niro.

Salient Features

This being the high-spec variant of the Niro, comes with a list of features. Some of these include electric leather seats with lumbar support, push start with smart entry, a sunroof, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, reverse camera with dynamic guidelines, cruise control, etc. safety features include two airbags, ABS brakes, EBD and parking sensors.

Fuel Average

The Niro Hybrid is known for its exemplary fuel average. It has even won a Guinness Book Of World Record for travelling 100 kilometers in 3 liters. Its realistic average is around 25 to 26 km/l within the city easily, and on the highway, it falls a bit.
