Kia Releases Photos of the EV9 Before Its 2023 Debut
Kia has released pictures of the EV9 being tested – a concept revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2021. The full-size electric crossover will go into production in the first quarter of 2023 and will be Kia’s flagship model.
Kia showed the three-row EV SUV being tested in the pictures. These tests were held at the Namyang R&D facility in South Korea. The car has been camouflaged in the photographs, but the outline looks pretty similar to the concept. The body shape is boxy but less chunky than the concept. The front is also identical to the idea, with vertical headlights and two horizontal trim pieces. There is an upwards kink in the window line of the car, which is also reflective of the original concept.
According to Kia, the EV9 has been tested against a four-wheel-drive climbing hill, rough terrain track, deep-water wading test, and a cobblestone road to evaluate ride comfort. The SUV has also gone up on high-speed circuits and tracks that test handling in low friction conditions.
Kia has planned the global launch of the car sometime in 2023. The SUV will become Kia’s flagship model once it is launched, which is a huge step in moving towards being an electrical automotive manufacturer.
The concept of the Kia EV9 was revealed at the Los Angeles auto show in November 2021. The idea looked similar to that of the Telluride but had a more futuristic look. It is set to be built on the same e-GMP platform as the EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 but with more exaggerated features.
