MG HS entered the Pakistani market with a bang, and the company claimed record high sales numbers. However, MG Pakistan was only selling Completely Built Units (CBU) or, in easy words, imported units of the crossover SUV. The company had claimed it would launch the locally assembled MG HS in Pakistan soon. If you remember, we visited the MG production plant in Lahore, and its officials showed us the assembly line.

During that visit, PakWheels was informed that the company is facing only one issue related to the paint plant. The government wasn’t issuing the license to the company due to some technical issues. But it seems that the issue has been resolved because our sources have informed us that MG Pakistan is all set to launch the locally assembled MG HS in Pakistan.
The same sources claimed that the company has received the license from the government, and the launch is very near. They added that Pakistan would get local HS in a matter of days, which can be a couple of weeks. So, petrolheads, fasten your seatbelts and be ready to put your hands on Pakistan-assembled MG HS.
If our sources are correct, then it is really exciting for the local auto industry because MG HS has emerged as a favorite car for a large number of people. Hence, like you, we are keeping our fingers crossed while hoping that sources are telling the truth.

MG created hype initially but gradually lost people interest due considerably late delivery issues juxtaposed with other emerging Chinese brands. This has severely damaged and dented MG reputation. MG, though invested to build up plant in Pakistan but need to step up with logic to introduce Kei and Sedan vehicles to compete with Kia, Hyundai and other Japanese brands. Seems a tough road ahead for MG.
