Moreover, all routes leading to Islamabad have been completely sealed off as containers block major entry points, according to sources. Entrances towards the capital, including D-Chowk, Faizabad, NADRA Chowk, and Serena Chowk, have been closed.

Travel Tips and Safety Guide for Commuters

Following are the precautionary measures you have to keep in account while traveling:

1. Avoid Motorway and Alternative Blocked Routes

  • Do not attempt to enter M-2 from any point — including Babu Sabu, Thokar Niaz Baig, and Muridke — as all access routes are officially sealed.
  • GT Road is also blocked; avoid using it as an alternative route.

2.Check Route Updates Before Traveling

  • Stay tuned to Motorway Police helpline (130) or official social media handles for verified traffic alerts.
  • Use Google Maps or Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) traffic app to monitor live diversions.

3.Delay Non-Essential Travel

  • If your trip between Lahore and Islamabad is not urgent, postpone travel until the motorway reopens.
  • Many intercity transport operators have temporarily suspended bus services; confirm schedules before leaving.

4.Consider Alternative Public Transport

  • Orange Line Metro Train service in Lahore is currently suspended — use ride-hailing apps or local taxis for short-distance commuting only if necessary.
  • Railway travel remains an option for intercity movement; check availability at Pakistan Railways counters or website.

5.Stay Informed Through Reliable Sources

6.Safety Reminders

  • Keep your vehicle fuel tank full and emergency supplies ready (water, power bank, first-aid kit).
  • If stuck in traffic near blockades, stay calm, avoid confrontation, and follow police directions.
  • Do not attempt to bypass containers or roadblocks, as doing so could risk safety and vehicle damage.
