New Asia Scooter: Specs & Price
Pakistan has an enormous market of two-wheel drives. However, the consumer base of this market is pretty one-dimensional. But things are about to change with the release of the upcoming New Asia Scooter. Due to its simplicity, convenience, and ease of drive, the learning curve is drastically reduced which makes the scooter more appealing to a budding female consumer base who prefer to use two-wheel drives.
The New Asia Scooter has a modern-day design and is another decent option for the masses who prefer to ride on two wheels instead of four. For some, it can also be considered as a decent substitute for the ever-popular motorcycles in Pakistan.
Specifications
The Scooter comes in two variants; 150cc and 100cc and will be available in four colors; White, Red, Green, and Blue. The two-wheel drive has a four-stroke engine and a butterfly carburetor. It comes with push button (and kickstart), clutch-less and gear-less mechanism. The front handle is equipped with breaks on each side, the front tyre is equipped with disc brake (with mini dual piston) while the rear tyre is equipped with drum brake. Both of the tyres are 10 inches in diameter.
Design
The overall built of the Scooter is pretty good, other than the inside of the front part of the Scooter (which is made from plastic), the rest is covered in a metallic body. The design of the scooter is well thought of, there is a locker like compartment in front of the driver seat which can contain small accessories.
There is also a considerably spacious compartment below the driver’s seat which can hold a decent number of things for a two-wheel drive. The Fuel tank is located at the rear end of the scooter and had a capacity to hold 6 liters of petrol. The batteries of the scooter are located right next to the fuel tank.
The Scooter is also equipped with a fuel gauge and a trip meter. The fuel gauge tells the percentage of petrol left in the scooter while the trip meter tells the amount of Km traveled.
Target Market
As far as two-wheel vehicles are concerned, motorcycles in Pakistan overwhelmingly populate that segment and majority of the customers being men. However, with a gearless and clutchless mechanism along with self-start feature the learning curve is almost reduced to zero which can entice a lot of female drivers to buy this two-wheel drive.
Price and launch date
The New Asia Scooter will approximately cost somewhere between Rs 150,000 to Rs 200,000 and is expected to be launched within the next 3-4 months. The most promising aspect about these New Asia Scooters is that other than the engine which will be imported from Thailand or Malaysia, everything else will be locally made in Pakistan.
This has not only decreased the original price of the Scooter but also ensures reliable and cheap supply of parts for the Scooter’s maintenance. In fact, the company selling the Scooters itself promises to provide good after-sales service. How will this upcoming two-wheel drive fare in the Pakistani market? Only time will tell.
