After the last price hike, petrol prices reached an all-time high at Rs. 147.83. We were all trying to make peace with it, afraid that the next price revision would take the rates even higher and petrol price would cross Rs. 150. Luckily, that did not happen. The government has kept the prices unchanged for the next two weeks.
OGRA’s Recommendation
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) proposed to increase petrol price by Rs. 11 per litre and high-speed diesel price by Rs. 14. The recommendations were on account of the increasing oil prices in the international market.
PM Imran dismissed OGRA’s proposal and ordered to keep the petrol prices unchanged for the next fortnight. Special Assistant to Prime Minister Shahbaz Gill shared the news on Twitter saying that the PM has done so to save the people from the rising inflation.
اس وقت حکومت اس بڑھتی قیمت کا بوجھ اپنے اوپر لے گی اور عوام کو اس سے بچانے کی کوشش کرے گی۔

Current Petrol Prices
The current petrol price is at an all-time high of Rs. 147.83 per litre.
The current diesel price is Rs.144.62 per litre.
The current price of kerosene oil is Rs. 116.48 per litre.
The current price of light diesel oil is Rs. 114.54 per litre.
The prices will remain in effect till the 15th of February.
The increasing petroleum prices are a pain for everyone, especially middle-class Pakistanis. As per some media reports, the government is planning to launch Ehsaas Petrol Card for bike owners. With this card, the bikers will be able to get petrol at subsidized prices. Let’s hope that the government will issue this card soon to give some relief to the middle-class section of society.
Meanwhile, the international oil prices are still on the rise, which means the petrol prices may go up in the next revision. This time, we escaped the petrol price hike by a hair. We may not be so lucky next time.
