Off & On-Road Drag Race- DMAX XT vs Revo GRS vs Modified Revo vs JAC T9

0 222

Whether for peacekeeping, rescue operations, or just rugged daily use, 4×4 pickup trucks like the Toyota Revo, Isuzu DMAX XT, and now the JAC T9 are among Pakistan’s most-used vehicles on- and off-road. Today’s episode brings them all together for a highly requested showdown – an off-road drag race between the toughest contenders in the segment.

Fans had long asked, “Why not test these pickups on rough terrain in a drag format?” And this time, the team found a patch at a garden-style location perfect for this challenge.

🏁 The Contenders – Let’s Meet the Lineup

And here are our contenders:

🆕 Isuzu DMAX XT (New Generation)

The latest in the DMAX family, this model features:

  • Engine: 3.0L Inline-4 Turbo Diesel

  • Power: 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque

  • Claim to fame: Strong off-road power delivery, factory-tuned agility

This truck surprised everyone by showing serious speed from the get-go.

🧨 Toyota Revo GRS

Long considered the segment king, the GRS brings:

  • Engine: 2.8L Turbo Diesel

  • Power: 201 hp and 500 Nm

  • Transmission: 6-speed auto

  • Special trait: Excellent on/off-road balance, rally-proven reliability

🛠️ Modified Toyota Revo (Zahib’s Custom Build)

To see how a tuned Revo performs, a custom variant was added with:

  • Power: 201 hp and 680 Nm torque
  • Aftermarket suspension

  • Hammer front bumper

  • Off-road wheels

  • ECU tuning

It was brought in to test how far mods can take a standard Revo.

🆙 JAC T9 Hunter

A newer face in the market, the JAC T9 is making waves with:

  • Engine: 2.0L Turbo Diesel

  • Power: 168 hp and 410 Nm torque

  • Transmission: 8-speed automatic

  • Unique traits: Modern design, premium feel, surprisingly capable off-road

Though it has a smaller engine compared to the DMAX and Revo, the T9’s lighter build and 8-speed transmission give it a strategic edge in performance.

🔥 Round-by-Round Breakdown

Here is the round-to-round break of this off-road drag race between these machines.

Round 1 – DMAX XT vs JAC T9

This is where things got interesting. The JAC T9, despite being the underdog, puts up a solid launch thanks to its 8-speed gearbox, which keeps the power delivery smooth. However, the DMAX still finishes ahead.

Round 2 – DMAX XT vs Toyota Revo GRS

In the first run, traction control was accidentally left ON in the GRS, which the DMAX dominated. In the rematch, with traction OFF and sport mode ON, the GRS improved, but the DMAX still won, though with a smaller gap.

Round 3 – DMAX XT vs Modified Revo

This one was close. Both vehicles launch aggressively. The tuned Revo puts up a serious fight with an excellent reaction time, but the DMAX’s initial torque still gives it the edge.

⚖️ Final Ranking (Off-Road)

  1. 🥇 Isuzu DMAX XTFastest in all matchups

  2. 🥈 Modified Toyota RevoClose, but not close enough

  3. 🥉 Toyota Revo GRSStruggled with traction, improved later

  4. 🏅 JAC T9Smooth operator, lacks raw grunt but well-balanced

📺 What’s Next?

This was just the off-road edition. In the next episode, the trucks will go head-to-head in an on-road drag race to see if things change when the surface gets smoother.

🛣️ Welcome to Episode 2 – Tarmac Time!

Assalamualaikum PakWheelers! Welcome back to the second episode of our drag race series, where we put Pakistan’s top 4×4 trucks to the test. After the off-road race in Episode 1, it’s now time to bring these beasts to smooth tarmac for a proper on-road drag race.

Previously, the JAC T9 had convincingly beaten the old generation Isuzu DMAX. But today, it’s facing the new-generation Isuzu DMAX XT, along with the Toyota Revo GRS and a custom-tuned Toyota Revo. The battleground is once again provided by SA Garden, offering a safe and controlled straight patch.

Professional drifter and experienced driver Talha Bin Azhar joins us, ensuring consistent, skill-based launches with minimal human error. The conditions are slightly wet today, so grip may vary, but the environment is perfect for a fair match.

🏁 Round 1 – JAC T9 vs Isuzu DMAX XT

With a proper brake-boost launch, the DMAX XT takes off with serious power. By the time they cross the finish line, the DMAX is about 2.5 car lengths ahead of the JAC T9. A solid performance from the DMAX, clearly showing its factory-tuned advantage.

While the T9 had previously beaten the old DMAX, the newer XT version proves to be in a completely different league.

🆚 Round 2 – Isuzu DMAX XT vs Toyota Revo GRS

This round is exciting because, on paper, both trucks have similar horsepower and weight figures. However, the DMAX has a slight edge in terms of 0–100 km/h times.

Both trucks have great reaction times and launch cleanly. But once again, the DMAX manages to stay just one car length ahead of the Revo GRS all the way to the finish line.

The difference isn’t massive, and the Revo GRS puts up a commendable fight, sticking close to the DMAX’s rear. The host emphasises that the DMAX only won due to faster pickup and better low-end torque. The GRS reacted quickly, but the DMAX still had enough grunt to pull away.

🛠️ Final Round – Modified Revo vs Isuzu DMAX XT

The last and most anticipated race is between Zahib bhai’s modified Revo and the stock DMAX XT. The modded Revo has aftermarket suspension, tuned ECU, and performance wheels—so this should be close.

And to everyone’s surprise… the stock DMAX beats the tuned Revo, too! Despite being customised for performance, the Revo can’t keep up with the new DMAX XT’s sheer acceleration and refined power delivery.

Everyone watching is stunned. A factory-built pickup truck outrunning a tuned one is a rare sight. The host jokingly says, “Yeh logon ne factory se hi isse turbo lagwa diya hai!”—that’s how fast it feels.

🏆 Final Verdict – DMAX XT Reigns Supreme Again

After winning every round in the off-road episode, the Isuzu DMAX XT continues its dominance on tarmac. It comfortably defeats:

  • The capable JAC T9

  • The tried-and-tested Toyota Revo GRS

  • Even the modified Revo

🎯 Conclusion

If you’re someone who’s often in a hurry or just wants to feel that rush of torque off the line, then the Isuzu DMAX XT is hands down the best option in this segment right now.

Factory-tuned power
Great launches
Consistent performance across terrains
