The month of August is special for all Pakistanis. It brings out patriotism and love for our country. While we celebrate our month of independence, running around with flags and playing national songs, a group of overseas Pakistanis is building an electric car for the country. A prototype of the first Pakistani EV will be unveiled by the end of this year

A Project by Dice Foundation

A group of overseas Pakistanis working in the automobile industries of the US, the UK, and Canada are working under the name of Dice Foundation. The members of Dice Foundation have volunteered their services to build an EV for Pakistan.

According to the founder and chairman of Dice Foundation, Dr Khurshid Qureshi, they are building an EV to compete with the top electric cars of the world. The total cost of this project could go up to $100 million. With the services of the overseas Pakistanis, the cost has been significantly cut down. So far, the foundation has spent $100,000 on the EV design and development process.

Dr Khurshid says that the battery pack for the car has been designed keeping in mind the weather and driving conditions in Pakistan. The electric car will serve the local Pakistanis well for a minimum of 10 years.

Involvement of Pakistani Institutes

Dice Foundation has partnered with the following local engineering institutes.

DHA Suffa University carried out the technical analysis of the project.

NED University of Engineering & Technology Karachi worked on battery packaging.

National College of Arts (NCA) was involved in the interior and exterior design of the electric car.

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) worked on the fabrication of the car.

The news of Pakistan’s first electric car is the perfect independence day gift for the country. Salute to Dr Khurshid and team Dice Foundation! We are proud of you all and can’t wait to see a local EV on our roads. Go Green!
