MG Pakistan’s poster boy Javed Afridi is here with another update about MG 3. The most-awaited hatchback has been the talk of the town for the last couple of years. It created a sensation among petrol heads when Javed Afridi hinted that MG would launch this car for under Rs. 2 million. However, there has been no update about the car since then, except Afridi asking the consumers to guess the price of this car, thrice.
Now, he has once again updated the MG lovers with the car during an answer and question session on Facebook. When an individual asked him about MG 3, he replied: “As promised, it will come to Pakistan with a new version.”
Afridi, however, doesn’t give any timeline for the possible launch of MG 3 in Pakistan. So, once again, it is still unknown, and the wait is still on for all of us. Also, it would be quite hard for MG Pakistan to launch this car for under Rs. 2 million now because of the current auto industry situation.
The dollar is going up constantly, freight charges are record high, raw material is too expensive, and petroleum prices are out of control, so launching such a car in this price range will be hard. It would be only possible if MG launches it as locally assembled cars, but we have yet to see a CKD unit of MG cars.
Although, during the same A&Q session, Afridi claimed that we would see locally assembled MG cars next month. So, let us wait and watch and hope for the best. Meanwhile, here are salient specs and features of MG 3.
MG 3 Hatchback
MG 3 is a 1500cc subcompact hatchback. The car is available in the international market in its 2nd generation. Its 1.5-liter engine comes with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car has a sharp look and a set of premium features, such as:
