Pakistan’s First-Ever Electric Bus Launched in Karachi
Electric Vehicles have been all the rage in the whole world for the past few years. Pakistan, like many other things, is lagging in this electric automotive revolution. However, the good news is Pakistan’s first-ever electric bus is finally here. The Sindh Government of Pakistan has taken a remarkable step of launching an electric bus service in Karachi. This is a historic moment for our country and a look into the future.
Sindh Transport Minister, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, inaugurated the first electric bus in Karachi. Addressing the launch ceremony, the minister said that the induction of electric buses would help control the transport problem and pollution in the city. With that, he promised to add a fleet of 100 buses soon.

Electric Vehicles in Pakistan
Pakistan has an active EV policy that the federal cabinet approved in December last year. Two electric cars, BMW i8 and Audi e-tron, are present in our country, and more are on their way. But these are the vehicles only the elite can afford. So, the introduction of Pakistan’s first-ever electric bus is definitely huge for the public. It’s the start of an era where everyone can use an electric means of transportation. Even though we are far behind other countries in this race of electric vehicle technology, at least now we are in the race.
We are happy for Karachiites and hope that they make the best use of this electric bus service. Now, fingers crossed for Punjab and KPK!
