    Useless Suzuki Hustler is close or smaller than alto, i’s mean canibalization.
    Ertiga is fitting India car markets, even though i don’t personaly like the Suzuki XL7, but clearly the XL7 offer more space in the third row and this Ertiga is older than the XL7.
    If Suzuki are showing thus car to survey people opinion, well they can bring , Stingrey Wagon R, Every and XL7, but those 2 bad decision.

    none will come after bankrupcy.

    Wow! So waqas, in all the time you have been sharing your expert opinions, you don’t know the Hustler’s size? 😁
    Well the thing is it is already very popular in the market like the article says and size-wise it is roomier than the Alto. It also comes with rear seats which fold flat into the floor and also move forward and back like the front seats. Suzuki will always bring in the cheapest option available. For example the Alto vxl here in Pakistan is the bottom most base model Alto in Japan. The vxr or vx models don’t even exist there.
    Similarly if they bring in the hustler or the new wagon r etc. They will go for the most bare bone options. My only heart felt request, please at least keep the folding rear seats intact and not give the phatta seat like they did with the Alto. Please leave some value for money. The boxy designs of these are more suited for a family vehicle and the full flat folding rear seats help maximize cargo space when needed. Very important for a family car also. With the simple added feature of the rear seats also moving forward and back, cargo and rear leg room can be adjusted as needed (when rear passengers are present).
    The Ertiga is also a better option because it is cheaper than the xl7. That means it will be cheaper to import. That means that if Suzuki brings it in, Suzuki might consider introducing a more upscale model with slightly more features. That is better than a bare bone xl7. So bare bone in fact that the dashboard of the xl7 displayed at the show gives new meaning to the words ugly and bare!
    The Ertiga seems the better choice.

    Expert ? I’am not an expert at all.
    hustler popular in the market ? It is not an official car sold in the market but it could catch some customer attention like Toyota Mark X for example.
    Anyway what is the dimension of hustler and alto ? Both of those car are for me 4 seaters car, i’am wrong ?
    Ertiga would be cheaper since it is older but it is also less roomier, take a look a the third row of both cars, head space is greater in XL7.
    And here is something i don’t understand sometimes in the past the local brands brougt some old generation, without any other model, people were complaining because in rich country the got the newer product.
    And at that time i was only supporting the brands who bring such model because it will be a progress anyway and got a lot of backlash.
    But now we have the choice between one recent model and one older and you are choosing the older ???

    I really hope we won’t get brankrupt.

    Brother the hustler is a very popular JDM Import. Just search the Pakwheels used car section or any other used car site. It is a four seater but there is a clear difference in dimensions. You see “Kai” does not mean the same dimensions for all. Kai cars have the smallest dimensions, then come the mini SUV and MPVs and then you have people carriers such as the Suzuki every etc. You can clearly see the size difference. The hustler is categorized as a mini SUV by suzuki. Just go to suzuki japan website to see for yourself. That means it has a lot more space inside. I speak from experience because where I live there are a ton of these. Even a couple of my relatives have this and the JDM alto RS. I have sat in both and there is night and day difference in space. The hustler or the Wagon R are more suited to families than the alto.
    Secondly the ertiga is not an older model just a different segment model. It is very popular in south Africa, Indonesia, India and Philippines. Proton even had the proton Ertiga; a rebadged suzuki ertiga which sold in Malaysia from 2016 to 2019. Like you said, the XL7 is the bigger model. but not by much. the xl7 is just about 2 inches longer than the ertiga. They are basically the same vehicle under the skin. Its just that the xl7 is a bit more up market. In the Philippines, Thailand and indonesia etc. both are sold side by side. The ertige is sold as the cheaper option where as the xl7 is a bit more expensive. Its only logical that if they bring the xl7 into the market here, it will most likely be the very base model because even the CKD kit imported will be more expensive. That means less tech inside. If they bring the ertiga, as it already priced a bit lower as a more budget MPV, the CKD kits might be a little bit cheaper so suzuki might get versions with a bit more tech kit. But judging from the shared pictures of the ertiga interior, I don’t see any chance of that happing. The ertiga has the same ugly stripped out interior as the XL7. I was just hoping against hope. My mistake. These companies have just one formula, bring in the most basic model and then sell it priced as the top most model.

    Speaking of older models. That is the mantra of these local assemblers as well. Those cost less and the markups are always phenomenal! Suzuki Alto, Toyota Corolla etc. All old models, especially the corolla at almost exactly 10 years old. With the out of control profit margins of the companies and the excessive tax margins of the government, makes any new car very expensive.
    Ill just give you some final examples. The Honda Civic RS is 81 lacs PKR here in Pakistan locally assembled. In the Philippines it is a purely IMPORTED car (all vehicles in the Philippines are imported). It costs around 76 lacs PKR there (converted from Philippine Pesos) with a few more options and more airbags. Why is it that we, with local assembly, are paying more then a country with only imports? We will now be paying 62 lacs for a bog standards NON-HYBRID 11th gen corolla. It is around 65 and 69 lacs, respectively, in Thailand and Philippines for the fully loaded 12th gen HYBRID models. Our so called fully loaded altis grande is in spec very close to the lowest tier models in other countries. Yet it is priced at almost the level of the newest hybrid model in other countries. Least input for the maximum output. These companies are doing the nation no favors. Only their bottom line.

    @Ali Khan
    You mean Kei cars and not Kai, for me hustler will get the succes of alpha united and alpha bravo no more.
    You said : The ertiga has the same ugly stripped out interior as the XL7.
    Doesn’t it mean the XL7 is the facelifted version of ertiga ?
    I dont know anything about the business way in the ASEAN countries but sure this Ertiga is more fitting their market, espacialy Indian market. The XL7 will be competing against BR-V in Pakistan.
    If we are paying more is because of own/premium , and the lies and misinforation about brands and cars value.
    As example You know some people dare to put haval in the same level as Audi ? No wonder they are looting people
    Take a look at Peugeot and their fragile engine, looting people, the french are taking about pure toc engine not pure tech even they are aware of their rubbish car.
    Misinformation and lies are explaining the high prices with own/premium.

  8. Ali Khan says

    Ha Ha! Its a Japanese word in English. As long as you got my meaning, that is all that matters. 👍

    The prices that I have mentioned, anyone can easily verify. They have been converted from Thai Baht and from Philippines Pesos. Anyone can easily check the prices on the Toyota and Honda sites for Thailand and Philippines. These are the company prices that I have mentioned. Just going by the company prices, Pakistani prices are not justifiable. Own or premium is not even under discussion here.

    The Ertiga and XL7 use the same platform. Suzuki itself treats them as two separate cars. Facelift is generally used for when there is a change to one specific car. But if you want to call it that please go ahead. It was just my opinion that the cheaper ertiga might be the best way forward.

    You have let us know many times that you are living in France. So take my word for it, a man who living in Pakistan, the hustler is very popular here. It is a simple fact. Look at it this way; Suzuki has many small KEI cars, SUVs MPV etc. why specifically choose the hustler? Answer; because even they know how popular and well received it is with the masses who can buy them.

  9. Waqas says

    @Ali Khan
    Yes but it dosn’t mean i never been in Pakistan.
    Anyway for Thailand and philippines i beleive you, but we need to consider another factor, both those countries are richer than Pakistan, they got more option available in their car market, making the cars companies lowering their prices, to be simple their markets are more chanllenging than us.
    Another thing is the corruption in our country is really high, mmaking things more difficult.
    To end it, we don’t know yet wich model Suzuki will launch, at least i hope they will launch the stingrey Wagon R and Every to end the old Wagon R and Bolan it’s time.

  10. Ali Khan says

    @waqas
    Agreed on all points. 👍
    Also Thailand and Philippines have very well thought out auto policies and their implementation. All are expected, and made sure, to follow the set rules.
    Here, it is all up in the air and who ever has the bigger (political power) stick gets to do as they please.

    Sad!
