Finally, the locally assemble units of MG HS has been unveiled. MG Pakistan revealed the cars during an event in Lahore today. The development is important because the company has only been selling the CBU units of this car. And due to COVID-19, import and then delivery of CBU units have been facing shortcomings, leading to issues for the company.

And with the CKD units launch, we can expect that this issue will be resolved.

Variants:

The company has revealed two variants of locally assembled MG HS, i.e., Base Variant and Top Variant (Previous MG HS variant without digital speedometer). Meanwhile, the MG Pakistan will continue to sell CBU units of HS with Digital Speedometer.

In May 2021, the head of JW SEZ Group, local partner of MG, Javed Afridi announced this development of MG cars. In a tweet, Afridi declared: “Alhamdulillah, first locally made MG car is on the wheels.” He shared two pictures of this locally assembled vehicle.

MG Assembly Plant

In the same month, MG Motors Pakistan announced that it will start the local production of its vehicles very soon. In a social media post, the company said: “Construction of the first MG Motor’s assembly plant is in progress under the supervision of both Pakistani and Chinese experts.” The statement further read that very soon, it will be capable of taking the next step of producing vehicles in Pakistan.

A great step forward, not only for us, but for the whole automotive industry in Pakistan,” the company said.

MG Pakistan is currently offering HS and ZS for selling, while it is expected that sale of ZS EV will start soon. Furthermore, Afridi has hinted the launch of three different vehicles, i.e. Gloster, MG3 and MG5.

Expected Price

The company has not revealed the price of the CKD MG HS. However, we expect that the rates of CKD would be less than CBU units.
