Most popular battery brands of 2018 – PakWheels.com Automobile Industry Survey 2018

Every year PakWheels.com conducts automobile industry survey to ascertain buying and selling trends, preferences and behaviors. The survey is also conducted to make a year-on-year comparison and analysis of any change or deviation in behaviors, preferences, and trends. The survey provides valuable insights for anyone interested in or related to the automobile sector of Pakistan.

In 2018, batteries were divided into two main categories: acid-based and maintenance-free batteries. Acid-based batteries were chosen by 64% of respondents while 36% of respondents opted for maintenance-free batteries. Maintenance-free batteries gained prominence relatively recently. Before these, only acid-based batteries were bought by the car owners in Pakistan.

Among acid-based batteries, AGS, Exide, and Osaka were the most preferred brands in 2018 as well as in 2017. However, the popularity of AGS and Volta decreased while Exide, Osaka, and Pheonix saw an increase in popularity among the respondents. Coming to maintenance-free batteries, Daewoo, AGS, and Exide remained popular brands in 2018. People also preferred Osaka and Pheonix under maintenance-free batteries category.

As far as bikes are concerned, AGS, Exide and Osaka remained popular brands in 2018 as well. The popularity of AGS, however, dipped from 2017 to 2018. All other brands which include Exide, Pheonix, Osaka, and Volta saw their popularity increase from 2017 to 2018.

In 2017 and 2018, buying trends and popularity of battery brands, both for cars and bikes, have remained relatively stable with minor changes occurring due to factors like inflation, etc.
