Regal Automobiles bringing an 800cc economy car for the Pakistani market is the hottest news currently. Regal is primarily a motorcycle manufacturer and the largest one in the country as well. They have decided to bring DFSK cars under the name Prince and currently, their hatchback Rex7 is planned to be launched in Pakistan to compete against United Bravo and Suzuki Mehran.

DFSK: A Brief Background
Formed on June 27th, 2003, Dongfeng Sokon (DFSK), also known as Dongfeng Xiaokang in Chinese, is a joint venture between Dongfeng and Chongqing Sokon Industry Group Co Ltd. DFSK is mainly known for its microvans and flat-bed commercial vehicles. DFSK and Regal, a joint-venture called Prince has brought REX7 to Pakistan.

The success of DFSK?
As far as DFSK’s success in China is concerned, it is a very well-known and successful brand in China. Their vehicles enjoy a healthy sale across the country and their vehicles are very reliable and dependable just like FAW. On average, they sell 50k vehicles each month which is quite a healthy number. Considering the population of the country, it may not sound like a big number but last year for each 1000 car ownership requests only 3 people were approved to actually buy and own a new car in China.

Since DFSK enjoys a good reputation in China, therefore Prince Pearl REX7 should also enjoy a good reputation in the local market.

The success of Rex7?

Now many of us are concerned about the success of Pearl REX7 in China. This is primarily because most of the Chinese cars that have been recently introduced in Pakistan perhaps didn’t enjoy a good reputation in China. Take United Bravo for example. That car is relatively a new car in the Chinese market and the brand which manufactures it isn’t that much known either. The pictures that we have seen gives us a reason to believe that REX7 resembles, Yika E7, which is manufactured by Jiangsu Yika New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd.

After doing some research, I found out that there isn’t much information on the internet on the Rex7. So there isn’t much to talk about customer satisfaction and feedback on this car. So probably when this car hits the showrooms only then we will be able to give a verdict on this car. However, on the positive note, Changan Benni does enjoy positive feedback, so we expect the same from Pearl once it hits the road of Pakistan.

Pearl Rex7 and its Competition

The main competitors of this car in Pakistan are Suzuki Mehran and United Bravo. While it will be just a waste to compare Mehran with this car, so let’s jump to United Bravo and see what this car might have to offer extra as compared to the United. First, the Pearl, in my opinion, looks a lot better than the Bravo. The exterior of this car feels like as if Suzuki Kizashi and the new Cultus are fused together. Secondly, the interior of the Pearl also has an upper hand and its similar to Acura cars and feels a lot more modern and attractive. Now the donor car of the Pearl offers a very healthy amount of equipment in the car as standard but we are certain most of this won’t make it to the local version. However, the local consumers would appreciate if Regal offers ABS, Airbags, Power Steering, Rear Camera, Power Locks & Power Windows, especially if they want to compete with Bravo.

The expected price of Prince Pearl Rex7 is 7.5 Lakh.
