And we are back with another car comparison for our readers. In this article, we are going to compare Proton Saga Standard 1.3L Automatic (AT) and Honda City 1.3L i-VTEC Prosmatec AT. In this article, we are going to compare salient features and specs of these two automatic sedans.

Engine and Transmission:

Proton Saga comes with a 1299cc inline 4-Cylinder DOHC VVT engine, which produces 95hp and 120Nm torque. Meanwhile, Honda City has a 1339cc inline 4-Cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine with 98hp and 128Nm torque. It means that City has a bigger engine size with higher horsepower and torque.

Proton has installed 4-Speed Automatic Transmission in its sedan, while City comes with 5-Speed Automatic Prosmatec Transmission. The Prosmatec Transmission is smoother as it gives minimum jerks while shifting the gear. The Prosmatec transmission is largely CVT inspired.

Exterior:

Both sedans come with Halogen headlamps with no DRLS. Meanwhile, Proton doesn’t offer Fog Lamps in Saga, but they are optional in City, meaning you have to pay extra to get Fog Lamps for your car. Coming to wheels, the Saga has 14-inch Steel Wheels, while Honda has installed 15-inch Steel ones. So, on the exterior, both cars are quite similar to a large extend.

Interior:

In the interior, the first thing you will notice that Proton Saga has Hydraulic Power Steering, while City has Electronic Power Steering one. Moreover, Saga has Standard Audio System just like Honda City; however, Touchscreen is optional in the latter. Again, both cars have kind of balanced options in the interior.

Safety:

Proton has offered 2 Airbags in its sedan, while Honda hasn’t, which surely is a huge disadvantage, especially when every brand is focusing on safety features. Both sedans come with ABS + EBD and Brake Assist. However, both vehicles don’t have Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, and Front Parking Sensors.

Proton Saga does come with Rear Parking Sensors, which are not offered in City. Meanwhile, Saga doesn’t offer a Reverse Camera, but it is optional in City.

Price:

The current price of Honda City is Rs2,639,000, while Proton has offered Saga in Rs2,125,000. This makes Saga Rs514,000 cheaper than its competitor, which is a huge difference in the compact sedan category. The price difference is surely a win for Saga.
