Proton Saga Standard MT Vs Suzuki Cultus VXL MT – A Comparison

The Proton Saga has been launched in a very reasonable price which means that it would not only target the sedan segment, but also impact the sales of hatchbacks. Hence, we are presenting the comparison of Proton Saga Standard Manual Transmission (MT) with Suzuki Cultus VXL MT. Cultus has been showing steady sales performances for years in local market, and with entrance of Saga, it will be interesting to see whether it would hamper the sales of Cultus or not.

It is pertinent to mention that the comparison is largely based on price range of both of these cars, as people have now choice of buying a sedan in price of a hatchback.

So, with out any further delay, here is the comparison.

Engine and Transmission: 

Proton has installed 1299cc Inline 4-Cylinder DOHC VVT engine, which produces 95hp and 120Nm torque. Meanwhile, Suzuki Cultus comes with 998cc Inline 3-Cylunder K10B engine with capacity of generating 67hp and 90Nm torque. The comparison shows a clear dominance of Saga in this category, which is obvious as both cars are from different cc segment.

Furthermore, both vehicles have 5-Speed Manual Transmission, making them equal in this category.

Exterior: 

Both, sedan and hatchback, have Halogen front lights with no DRLS, however, Saga doesn’t have Fog Lamps, which are offered in Cultus. Coming to wheel size, the sedan by Proton has 14-inch Steel Wheels, while Cultus comes with 14-inch Alloy ones, giving an edge to the latter over the former.

Interior: 

The first thing to be notices is that Saga has Hydraulic Power Steering, while Cultus comes with Electronic Power Steering, however, both vehicles come with  Power Windows. Meanwhile, Saga comes with Standard Audio Systems, and Cultus with Touchscreen Infotainment system, making Cultus superior. In short, interior-wise Suzuki’s car has a slight edge over its competitor.

Safety:

Both Proton and Suzuki have installed 2 Airbags in their cars. Furthermore, both cars have ABS, but only Saga has EBD and Brake Assist, making it much safer car as compared to Cultus. Meanwhile, both cars don’t have Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, Hill Start Assist, Front Parking Sensors and Reverse Camera.

However, Proton do offer Rear Parking Sensors in Saga. So, in conclusion, Saga is safer and easy to maneuver car as compared to Cultus.

Price: 

The current price of Suzuki Cultus is Rs1,970,000, while Proton has launched Saga with price tag of Rs1,975,000, making Saga only Rs5,000 expensive than Cultus, however, you should remember that Saga is a sedan.
