Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has released the law and order statistics including the performance review for the month of March 2019.
The authority has issued the performance report of Punjab Police Integrated Command and Control & Communication Centre (PPIC3) which includes as many as 76,366 observations by the monitoring centre. More than 260 suspicious persons were intercepted by the Police Response Unit (PRU) and Dolphin Squad whereas 4723 suspicious vehicles were probed by them collectively. The ground units also intercepted 6654 vehicles and motorbikes due to the absence or use of fancy number plates. The monitoring operation is carried out under the state of the art CCTV surveillance which also monitored nearly 211 protests and rallies and ensured the security of the citizens.
With almost 336,034 calls received on the 15 Emergency Helpline, only 41,529 had genuine concerns whereas 245,564 were considered hoaxes. The Dispatch Control Centre (DCC) generated cases for the genuine ones for further legal action. However, query-based 66,114 calls were received for seeking information, traffic management, consultancy services and help from the City Traffic Police. The Media Monitoring Centre, on the other hand, is working efficiently on its social media campaign on road safety, and e-challan system through Facebook and Twitter accounts of PSCA.
The Control and Communication Centre (PPIC3) helped in completing the electronic data evidence acquisition requests made by the Punjab Police and several law enforcement agencies (LEAs). It released data related to nearly 260 crime cases and providing playback footage to the investigation officers in almost 600 instances. The authority also dealt with 1717 rescue cases and 1746 traffic queries and emergency calls. The Public Safety App developed by the PSCA is also working efficiently as its performance graph has seen an all-time high during the month of March 2019. Through its Lost & Found Centre, it helped in recovering 9 missing persons, 7 auto rickshaws, 114 motorbikes and a car. The ground teams of Dispatch Control Centre provided assistance to the citizens in almost 66,114 cases.
Note here that the PSCA is working efficiently in creating road sense awareness among the citizens. By installing LCD’s across the important roads of the city, the authority has displayed several directives and situational messages through its Variable Messaging Service (VMS). Besides, speed limit boards are also displayed to warn the commuters from getting fined on over-speeding. Moreover, with the help of Punjab Police and CTP, PSCA is taking legal action against the vehicles with illegal or fake number plates and the department is keen to extend its services with the law enforcement agencies to ensure safety and security of the citizens. The citizens are advised to call ‘15 helpline’ immediately, in case of an emergency.
