The City Traffic Police have devised a diversion plan to avoid traffic jams during the test match between Pakistan and England in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
As per the diversion strategy, Stadium Road will remain closed from 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road for the general public during the matches. Furthermore, 432 traffic police personnel, 7 DSPs, 24 inspectors, 314 wardens, and 87 traffic assistants will perform their duties to manage traffic on planned diversions.
City Police spokesman informed that to keep the traffic moving and also to facilitate the citizens, awareness banners will be placed on major roads. Information will also be provided on the official social media pages of the police.
Traffic Plan

- Traffic coming from Islamabad 9th Avenue will be able to enter Rawalpindi through Islamabad Expressway at Faizabad and IJP Road through Pindora Chungi, Katarian, Carriage Factory, Pirwadhai Mor.
- At the time of departure and return of the teams, Murree Road will be completely closed from Faizabad to Double Road on both sides.
- The traffic coming from Rawalpindi to Double Road and 9th Avenue in Islamabad will enter Rawalpindi through Murree Road at Faizabad.
- The traffic coming from Islamabad will be diverted from Faizabad to the expressway, while the traffic going from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will enter Islamabad via 6th Road and Syedpur Road.
- Traffic coming from Ghousia Chowk will be diverted towards Farooq-i-Azam Road and Kuri Road.
It is pertinent to mention that the practice session has started from November 28. The first test match of the series will start from December 1 to 5.
