In the Northern most region of Pakistan, Safaranga Desert of Gilgit-Baltistan is an epitome of beauty, serenity, and wilderness. Paths to some of the world’s highest mountains that includes K2, K3, and Gasherbrum; all are connected through this dessert. These towering mountains attract thousands of climbers from all over the world each year.
Mountain Dew Presents PakWheels.com Sarfranga Desert Rally 2017 in collaboration with Gilgit Baltistan Government. This unique desert rally is scheduled to take place on the highest Cold Desert in the world from 17th to 20th August 2017. Each year Pakistan’s most premiere racing event keeps getting better, diverse and refined. With spectators coming from all over the country, this year’s event is pretty special as the both ladies and male drivers will be competing in 4×4 and bike categories. The contestants will compete on an (up to) 40 kilometers track. Likewise, the total prize money in six categories (A, B, C, D, Ladies, and Bikes) amounts to Rs. 2 million. To keep up with the tradition, the organizers have made special arrangements for entertainment; including Polo Match, Mayphang, Zakh Competition, Cultural Night, Grand Dinner, Fireworks.
A thrilling and challenging track for the participants has been designed. The Safaranga Dessert Rally route will provide all kind of terrains for rallying from Dunes to Salty plains. The terrain is quite challenging and special efforts are being made to retain the enthusiasm of all participants and audience. As mentioned above, the rally will be a four-day event.
