Specs & Features of 1st Local Electric Car of Pakistan
Almost every one of us now knows about the first electric car in Pakistan. By first, we mean the first locally produced vehicle, named Nur-E. The hatchback was unveiled in Karachi yesterday, and you must’ve seen its photos on our social media pages. If you haven’t, just click here to see them.
It’s a Prototype
After the photos, the next important thing about a car is its specs and features. But first, let us tell you that it was just a prototype unit, and as per the company, DICE Foundation, it will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024. This means we have to wait for almost 1.5 years for the actual car.
And bow back to the car’s salient features and specs, which the company shared with us.
Salient Specs and Features
As mentioned earlier, this hatchback has five seats and five doors. As it is an EV, let us discuss its battery power and range.
Battery
The company officials told us that the car would come with a 35KwH battery, which produces 107hp (80KW) and maximum torque of 200Nm. “The range of the car would be 210 kilometers with AC with a top speed of 120 kilometers,” the company claimed. However, the actual range of the car will be revealed, once it comes on the road.
Charging Time
There are two charging options in the car. The first one is Fast Charging with DC chargers, which will charge the vehicle in just 2 hours. However, bit hasn’t been tested by the company so just a claim for the time being.
The second one is Slow Charging with a regular 220V charger, and it takes almost 7-8 hours to charge the hatchback completely.
Tyre Size
The company offers 16-inch alloy wheels and 180mm ground clearance.
Drive
As per the manufacturers, the car will have single pedal driving with two modes, i.e., Eco and Sport.
Other Salient Features
As per the company, the car also has:
- Rearview Camera
- Folding side view mirror
- Leather seats
- Bluetooth
- Tilt & telescope steering
- Power windows
We hope this would become a reality from a prototype, and we can have our own electric vehicle. So, keep your fingers crossed till 2024.

This is a fantastic first start.
I hope the batteries are based on the LifePo4 chemistry.
They could include a two ratio gearbox to increase the top speed and the efficiency on motorway speed.
Also if they use a three phase OBC and a water cooled battery, charging times can be reduced ( at least 3C charging between 15-85%) and better battery longevity courtesy the active cooling.
