Yesterday, we shared the first pictures of the locally assembled Toyota Corolla Cross as the car was spotted in Karachi. In the pictures, you can see two units of the upcoming crossover SUV wrapped in blue at a petrol station. For a recap, here are the images:
Where are They Going?
As they were spotted on the road during a drive, so the question arises, where are these locally assembled units of Corolla Cross going? No worries, we have the answer. According to our reliable sources, these are durability CKD units, meaning they are the very first assembled units, and now Toyota Pakistan is testing them on local roads.
“These units will travel across Pakistan to check their durability,” the source told us, adding that these cars will visit the northern areas of Pakistan. During this long trip, the company will test not only the fuel average and hybrid system but also every car feature, i.e., comfort, tires, suspension, engine power, etc.
So this means Indus Motor Company (IMC) has entered the testing phase for this crossover SUV, which is good news for Toyota lovers.
Locally Assembled Corolla Cross Launch?
As per our sources, the new vehicle would launch in December 2023 or January 2024, but due to uncertain economic conditions and political situation, nothing is confirmed as of now. The company is reportedly waiting for the situation to get stable so that one of the most anticipated vehicles could be launched in Pakistan. IMC has invested $ 100 million in the assembly and production of the Corolla Cross. The company had even shown the locally assembled unit to the ex-prime minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, a couple of months ago.
The activities by the company show that they are fully prepared to launch the car in the local market, and they are just waiting for the overall situation to improve.
