SUNEEL’S TAKE on Upcoming Cars in Pakistan
After years of downtrends in Pakistan’s auto industry, the trend of launching new cars (either electric or hybrid) is revived. This year, the local car sector received a number of vehicles (GUGO GIGI mini EV, Yaris facelift, Honri Ve 3.0, Corolla Cross CKD, and MG HS 2.0T), and most of these are yet to be revealed in October or by the end of this year.
Starting from BYD, the newly launched company is anticipated to reveal its three electric cars, including Dolphin (electric hatchback), Atto 3 (electric crossover) and Sealion 6 (PHEV crossover), in Pakistan by the end of October.
New Electric and Hybrid Models
Coming to KIA, this Korean is expected to update its prominent models (Sportage and Sorento) in Pakistan with new add-on EV9, an electric SUV. Moreover, there are also interesting updates receiving from Hyundai Nishat Motors.
The company is currently testing Hyundai‘s updated Elantra model on Pakistani roads. They plan to introduce the 7th generation of Elantra in Pakistan with a hybrid powertrain. Also, we may receive a facelift of Sonata. Since Kia Lucky Motors plans to bring a new Sportage, it becomes compulsory for Hyundai Nishat to ship something new regarding Tucson, which is considered a head-to-head competitor of the Kia Sportage.
Last but not least, another player, United Motors, is preparing to enter the premium league. The company is all set to bring “JETOUR” to Pakistan. Jetour is a marque of Chinese car manufacturer Chery, established in 2018. Jetour mainly produces SUVs and crossovers. Similarly, the company is planning to bring two variants of its crossover SUVs, “Dashing” and “X70 Plus.”
According to the initial information, both of these cars will be locally produced (CKD) and equipped with 1.5 turbo petrol engine. Moreover, the Dashing variant will be a “5-seater” SUV, while the X70 plus has seating space for seven adults (7-seater).
A New Era of Premium Vehicles
All this simply means, a new era of premium electric and hybrid vehicles is just near to begin stretching the options for the car enthusiasts to luxury end.
