After the launch of Suzuki Swift yesterday, we are bringing its comparisons with its competitors. So, in this article, we are going to compare Suzuki Swift GLX with Toyota Yaris ATIV CVT 1.3L. Although one is a hatchback and the other is a sedan, both are in the same price range.
Dimensions
The new Swift is 151-inch Long, 68-inch Wide, and 60-inch High, while in comparison, Yaris is 174-inch in Length, 68-inch in Width, and 58-inch in Height. Not surprisingly, Yaris being a sedan is bigger than Swift in every sense.
Engine
The engine in the new hatchback is 1.2L K-Series VVT with 81hp and 113Nm Torque. Meanwhile, Yaris comes with a 2NR FE 1.3L engine, producing 98hp and 123Nm of Torque. If we compare the transmissions, Swift has CVT while Yaris has 7-Speed Automatic CVTi.
Exterior
The headlamps in Swift are Auto LED Projector against 4-Beam Halogen in Toyota’s sedan. On the side, Suzuki’s car has 16-inch Alloy Wheels compared to 15-inch Alloys in Yaris. Furthermore, Swift offers LED DRLs integrated into headlights, while Yaris doesn’t have them. The Fog Lamps in both cars are simple Bulbs.
Interior
The Steering in Swift is Tilt & Telescopic, while Yaris has Electric Power Assisted, and both have Steering Controls. The seat material in both cars are fabric. The hatchback by Suzuki has 9-inch Infotainment System, while it is not offered in Yaris. Also, MID is installed in Swift, absent in Toyota’s sedan.
Both cars have Power Windows, Auto AC, while Swift has Auto Start, which is absent in its competitor. Pak Suzuki offers a simple Audio System in its car compared to CD/DVD player in Yaris.
Lastly, Yaris comes with Child Lock, not installed in Swift.
Safety and Comfort
The Swift has a clear edge in the airbags category as it has 6 against 2 in Yaris. The standard safety features in both cars are Vehicle Stability Control, ABS + EBD, Immobilizer, and Hill Start Assist. And the additional features in Swift are Traction Control, Rear Parking Sensors, and Reverse Camera. So, Swift has the edge over its competitor in this crucial segment.
Price
Pak Suzuki has launched Swift GLX with a price tag of Rs. 2,899,000, while current price of Yairs CVT 1.3L is Rs. 2,919,000. It means Yaris is Rs. 20,000 expensive.
