Today we’re back with an owner’s review of Tabish Hashmi’s newly bought Chery Tiggo 8 pro. Tabish is a renowned host and comedian, and today he shares his experience with this Chinese crossover SUV. Chery launched the Tiggo 8 pro earlier this year in a single variant powered by a 1.6-liter t GDI engine producing 195hp and 290Nm of torque.
This engine is configured with a 7-speed DCT transmission, giving power to the front wheels. The Tiggo 8 pro is a midsize 7-seater SUV and is argued to be the top competitor in this market, so let’s get to know more about Tabish’s ownership experience.
Purchase Decision
The owner was previously driving the Kia Sportage Alpha and wanted to upgrade to a better-specced crossover. He initially considered the Tucson, Sportage AWD, Sonata, and several other cars in this price range. He was skeptical about Chinese brands and thought they had quality issues. But after getting some advice and research, he was told about the Tiggo 8 pro. Looking at the quality and features, his perception of Chinese cars changed completely. He bought the car at the initial invoice of Rs. 6.5 million.
Salient Features
The Chery Tiggo 8 pro is highly equipped with modern features, including a panoramic roof, faux leather electric seats, dual-zone climate control, a digital instrument cluster, multimedia steering, Sony sound system, and much more. Advanced features include adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, 360 view camera, collision warning, emergency braking, lane departure warning, etc., and the owner really seems to like the effectiveness of these features in traffic.
Interior Space
One of the main reasons he bought this car was because of its 7 seats. As per the owner, the passenger space is very good, the third row is ideal for kids, and the overall cabin is very roomy. He also traveled out of the city in this car with 8 people and thought the space was sufficient.
Infotainment System
The Tiggo 8 pro comes with a 10.25-inch touch screen which shows several types of data and forms the main medium to access multiple features in the car. The owner is pretty happy with its performance; it does not lag and is very responsive, and the Bluetooth connection and call audio are also good.
Fuel Average
The owner has mostly driven the car in the city, and he’s getting a combined fuel average of 8 to 9 km/l in which the car drives in stop-and-go traffic and often idles with AC. The fuel average increases at longer stretches and main roads and goes up to 11/12 km/l.
AC Performance
The owner seems satisfied with the AC performance and thinks it works perfectly. It comes with dual-zone climate control and vents in the second and third row, where the passengers can also control the airflow speed.
Missing Features
Despite the Chery Tiggo 8 pro being so rich in features, the owner misses ventilated seats in the front, the heating function is present, but he thinks that it’s of no use in the hot weather of Pakistan, and cooled seats would be a great feature.
