Toyota Corolla 1986 – Restored in Rs. 4 Lacs Only
The Toyota Corolla 1986 is possibly one of the automaker’s most timeless models. This fifth-generation sedan is still known for its durability and vintage looks. However, its functionality was the main reason for restoring this four-wheeler within an affordable budget.
1986 Corolla – Overview
Malik’s friend bought this 1986 Toyota Corolla in 1995 for 3.25 lacs. While he was moving out of Pakistan in 2000, he gifted it to Malik and asked him to maintain it in its genuine condition. After standing for years unattended, Munj finally decided to get it restored. And what a splendid job Malik did.
Interior & Exterior
The modification project started with the aim of maintaining every mechanical component in its stock condition. Strating with the paint job, the whole car was scrapped and de-rusted after which fresh paint job was done. Even engine compartment was rejuvenated.
New oversized tires were installed, and the suspension was restored. The interior was cleaned and restored to its original condition. This project took two months to complete.
Performance
Having a 1300 CC engine paired with a manual transmission, this sedan successfully gives a fuel average of 9 to 10 km/L. However, it needs tuning after every 10,000 km. In the future, Malik wants to pair this sedan with an automatic transmission suitable for new drivers, particularly his kids.
Restoration Cost
If you are looking to get an imported sedan restored, an estimated buying price would be around 5 to 6 lacs, and a paint job would take 2.5 lacs. However, engine and suspension rehauling would cost around 1.5 to 2 lacs. In the end, a complete restoration project would give you a fully functional car suitable for family and longer routes for around 10 to 12 lacs.
