Toyota Introduces Baby Land Cruiser FJ — A Compact Off-Roader for 2026
Toyota has officially unveiled the prototype for the Land Cruiser FJ, a new compact off-roader set to join the legendary Land Cruiser lineup. The Japanese automaker says a local launch is scheduled for mid-2026, with global availability likely to follow. The FJ is designed to offer “Freedom & Joy,” combining daily drivability with serious off-road capability.
A Legacy Reimagined
The Land Cruiser name dates back to 1951, when the Toyota BJ became the first vehicle to reach the sixth station of Mount Fuji. Over the last 70+ years, the Land Cruiser has become synonymous with durability, safety, and rugged off-road performance. With over 12.15 million units sold across more than 190 countries and regions (as of August 2025), it remains one of Toyota’s most enduring nameplates.
Toyota’s current Land Cruiser family includes:
- Station Wagon: Flagship variant, currently represented by the 300 Series
- Heavy-Duty: The iconic 70 Series, known for its utilitarian toughness
- Core Model: The 250 Series, launched in 2024, returns to the brand’s basics
The upcoming FJ joins this lineup as a smaller, more accessible model—yet one that promises the same Land Cruiser DNA.
