After Lahore Incident – Police Start Action Against ‘Vigo Culture’
Last week, a video clip went viral on social media showing a citizen clashing with private security guards with the black Revo Hilux and other luxury cars. In the video, a guard can be seen firing directly at an unarmed citizen after a road rage, which led to a social media outcry as netizens criticized the “Vigo culture” with private security guards, which has become quite common in recent years. This creates an issue in traffic flow and a serious problem for commuters as they are usually forced to change lanes for this so-called protocol.
After the incident, Lahore Operations DIG Faisal Kamran ordered the registration of an FIR under the Anti-Terrorism Act against the security guard and the person they escorted. Now, Multan Traffic Police have taken a step forward against this trend.
Multan Traffic Police Action
The Multan Traffic Police announced, in a social media post, “End of Vigo Culture—Law is equal for everyone.” As per the orders of CTO Multan, Sadar Mavarhan Khan, traffic police have started a special campaign banning police lights, sirens, fake number plates, and tinted windows on cars. “Furthermore, carrying weapons in public has also been declared illegal. ” The drivers violating these rules will face serious charges,” the police announced.
In a social media post, the city police announced:
-
- Using force is illegal.
- Police lights, sirens, and fake number plates on Vigo/Revo cars are illegal.
- Tinted windows and weapons are banned.
- In case of an actual security threat, the citizen can have two private security guards, but only after permission from the police.
- Last but not least, the uniform of those guards should not resemble any Law Enforcement Authority (LEA).
This indeed is a good initiative by the Multan Traffic police and should be implemented across the province and the country. The culture has become a daily problem for other commuters on the road and can lead to incidents like the one in Lahore.

Imposing a fine on a new vehicle! It is idiocy and ironic when most bike riders don’t even have a driving license and scoot in between vehicles. Is that allowed?
The police should take strict action against such bikers. Otherwise, another face, a far fiercer one is going to crop up instead of Vigo culture.
