Another Over-Speeding Teen Causes Crash in Lahore

In yet another unfortunate incident, an underage driver’s reckless over-speeding led to a collision with a motorbike rickshaw near College Road Township in Lahore, leaving four people injured. Local authorities confirm that medical assistance was promptly provided by Rescue 1122, attributing the accident to over-speeding. The impact was severe enough to overturn the speeding car.

Rising Incidents of Over-Speeding Crashes

This incident adds to a concerning trend of over-speeding-related accidents in Lahore. Recently, a devastating crash in the Defence Phase 7 area claimed the lives of six family members, including two infants. The victims, returning home after a family visit, suffered critical injuries when one car rammed into another. Despite immediate shifts to Lahore General Hospital, all injured family members succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Victims Identified

The victims of the tragic crash were identified as Rukhsana (52), Anabia (3), Huzaifa (four months), Muhammad Hasnain (28), Sajjad (26), and Ayesha (22). The loss of lives has raised concerns about the growing impact of negligent driving on innocent lives.

Swift Action Against Over-speeding

Prompt police action led to the arrest of the driver, Afnan Shafqat, whose alleged negligence, over-speeding, and rash driving were deemed responsible for the fatal accident. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, and the vehicle involved in the crash has been confiscated.

Calls for Stringent Measures

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed condolences over the tragic deaths and has called for a detailed report on the accident. In response to the escalating incidents of over-speeding, he ordered stringent legal action against negligent drivers to curb the rising menace on Lahore’s roads.
