Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 – EVs, EVs, EVerywhere!
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, inaugurated on January 17, 2025, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, has become a significant platform for automakers to showcase their latest innovations. Among the highlights are the top five cars, electric vehicles to be precise, that have garnered considerable attention.
Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara
Maruti Suzuki unveiled the e-Vitara, its first all-electric SUV, marking a pivotal step in the company’s electric vehicle (EV) journey. The e-Vitara is based on the eVX concept and is expected to go on sale in India in March 2025.
Specifications:
- Battery Options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs.
- Power Output: The 49 kWh variant delivers 144 PS, while the 61 kWh variant offers 174 PS.
- Torque: Both variants provide 192.5 Nm of torque.
- Range: The e-Vitara boasts a claimed range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge.
- Drivetrain: Front-wheel drive configuration.
Design and Features:
The e-Vitara maintains a design similar to its global counterpart, featuring a dual-tone black and tan interior. It includes a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman audio system, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, seven airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and a split rear seat with a 20-degree recline.
Hyundai Creta Electric
Hyundai introduced the Creta Electric at the expo, marking its entry into the electric SUV segment. The Creta Electric is available in multiple trims, including Executive, Smart, Premium, and Excellence.
Specifications:
- Battery Options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery packs.
- Range: The 42 kWh variant offers a range of up to 402 kilometers, while the 51.4 kWh variant extends the range to 473 kilometers.
- Charging: Supports DC fast charging, enabling quick recharge times.
Design and Features:
The Creta Electric retains the design of its internal combustion engine counterpart, with modifications to accommodate the electric powertrain. It features a blanked-off grille with a pixelated theme, 17-inch aero-style alloy wheels, and an “electric” badge on the bootlid. Interior amenities include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, two 10.25-inch screens, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS for enhanced safety.
Tata Harrier Bandipur Edition and Harrier EV
Tata Motors showcased the Harrier in three distinct configurations: the Bandipur Edition, the standard Harrier EV, and the Harrier EV Stealth Edition.
Harrier Bandipur Edition:
This edition pays homage to Karnataka’s Bandipur National Park, featuring a unique metallic bronze exterior. It shares features and engine options with the standard Harrier model.
Harrier EV:
- Powertrain: Equipped with an electric motor delivering 500 Nm of torque.
- Drivetrain: All-wheel drive system.
- Design: The Stealth Edition boasts a matte black exterior and an all-black interior, emphasizing a sleek and modern aesthetic.
Kia Syros
Kia unveiled the Syros, a new subcompact SUV positioned above the Sonet in its lineup. The Syros is set to launch at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, with its price to be announced.
Specifications:
- Dimensions: Measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,665 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,550 mm.
- Boot Space: Offers a 465-liter boot, providing ample storage capacity.
- Engine: Smartstream G1.0T-Gdi 6MT
Design and Features:
The Syros draws design inspiration from Kia’s global models, the EV9 and Telluride. It features a boxy silhouette, tall-boy design, enclosed front panel, large vertical headlights with Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on top-end variants. The interior is designed to be spacious, with reclining and sliding rear seats, and is available in eight color options.
Porsche Macan EV
Porsche is set to unveil the Macan EV at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, marking its India debut. The Macan EV showcases a new design language inspired by the Taycan.
Specifications:
- Variants: Available in three variants:
- Macan RWD: 355 bhp rear electric motor.
- Macan 4: Dual-motor setup producing 402 bhp.
- Macan Turbo: 630 bhp with up to 1,130 Nm of torque.
- Battery: Equipped with a 100 kWh battery, offering a WLTP-certified range of up to 641 kilometers.
Design and Features:
The Macan EV features a design inspired by the Taycan, with an interior similar to the current Cayenne, including a three-screen setup spanning the dashboard. It combines Porsche’s signature performance with electric mobility, catering to enthusiasts.
