Car Sales In Pakistan Increased By 1% Last Month
Every month we provide you a detailed car sales report translating what the local auto makers earned. Once again, we are here with a similar month-on-month report. Starting with ongoing sales trend, suffice it to say, just like the situation of local car market, car sales are also unstable.
After observing a considerable nosedive of 36% in July, sales charts have observed a nominal jump of 1% in August. According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report the local car assemblers sold 8,699 units last month against 8,589 cars in July.
Meanwhile year-on-year (YoY) sales reported a growth of 15%. Local car manufacturers managed to sell 8,589 cars last month compared to only 7,579 vehicles sold during the same period last year.
Two & Three wheelers
Highlighting motorcycle and three-wheeler sales, local bike makers witnessed an increase of 23% last month, reaching 104,234 bikes in August 2024 compared to 84,993 units in July’24. Concerning year-on-year sales, it observed a jump of 18%, selling 104,234 units against 88,318.
Atlas Honda sales saw an uptick of 29% last month, reaching 90,483 units last month against 70,255 units in July 2024. Meanwhile, Pak Suzuki saw a jump of 16%, selling 1,906 bikes last month compared to 1,643 units in July 2024.
Trucks & Buses
Sales of trucks and buses slashed by 2% last month, with 300 units sold last month compared to 307 in July 2024.
Company-Wise Sales Breakdown
Toyota Pakistan’s sales increased by 28%, selling 2,129 units last month compared to 1,664 vehicles in July 2024.
However, Honda Atlas sales narrate a same story, saw a jump of 23%, selling 1,148 units last month compared to 931 units in July 2024.
Pak Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) sales reduced by 18%, selling 3,653 vehicles in August 2024 against 4,470 cars in July 2024.
Meanwhile, Hyundai Nishat sales observed an up of 12%, selling 591 units last month compared to 529 units in July 2024.
Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) sales increased by 9% in August 2024, selling 953 cars contra to 871 units in July 2024.
The recent entrant Dewan Group produced 104 units and sold 47 in August 2024.
It is worth mentioning that sales numbers for Kia Lucky Motors, Master Changan Motors, Regal Motors, MG Motors, and Al-Haj Proton are not included in the report as they are not PAMA members.
Car-Wise Sales Breakdown
Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) sold 2,023 units of Alto, 131 units of Suzuki Cultus, 190 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 559 units of Suzuki Swift, 743 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 7 units of Suzuki Ravi.
Toyota Indus sold 1,565 units of Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla and 564 units of Fortuner and Hilux.
Honda Atlas sold 1,073 units of City and Civic, and 75 units of BR-V and HR-V.
Hyundai Nishat sold 70 units of Elantra, 63 units of Sonata, 182 units of Porter, and 276 units of Tucson.
