CM Sindh Cuts Petrol Quota of Ministers & Officials

1 1,289

Last night, the government announced a massive hike in fuel prices out of the blue. The government increased both petrol and diesel rates by Rs. 30. To empathise with the public and share their burden, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved a 40 percent cut in the fuel quota for provincial ministers, government officials, and himself.

CM Sindh says the national treasury should not suffer the entire burden of a fuel hike because “overburdening the treasury means overburdening the masses.”

The announcement came after Former Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, posted this on Twitter this morning.

Petrol Price Hike

Fuel prices have become a ticking time bomb that explodes every fortnight and causes havoc in the country. The public had to suffer from an Rs. 60 rupees petrol hike in just a week.

Petrol now costs Rs. 209.86.

The new Diesel rate is Rs. 204.15.

Kerosene Oil is currently at Rs. 181.94.

And the price of Light Diesel Oil has reached Rs. 178.

The new government played emotionally for a month, keeping the petrol prices unchanged and trying to portray a good image in front of the public. As a result, the country lost billions of dollars in petrol subsidies, and the government failed to reach an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

All this led to the government’s haphazard policies and measures of hiking the petrol prices by Rs. 30 twice in a week when nobody expected. The irony is this doesn’t end here. We are entering a black hole of inflation and recession.

What do you think about the whole petrol situation? Do you think the new government will be able to get us out of this chaos or push us further? Join the conversation and share your thoughts about CM Sindh’s initiative of cutting the petrol quota.

Whatever happens, folks, we are in this together!
