Speaking at a press conference today in Islamabad, adviser to the Prime Minister on Petroleum, Dr. Asim Hussain has said that the government is working on the plan to phase out CNG gradually, and that this plan must be strictly implemented and the federal government had also held discussions with the provincial governments in this regard.
Further saying that CNG will only be available to 1000cc cars and public transport to use as fuel.
Dr. Asim Hussain said that Apex courts has helped the government in the CNG price issue and that he would present the new policy guideline to the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Firstly, this is not a public friendly decision rather it is favorable to government in order to raise the Petrol sellings. furthermore; if they are going to implement this to give more Gas to industries – this should be implemented for the car more than 1000CC car because below 1000CC car are mostly lower-middle level community. it will be burden this community. if a person can own/maintain a car more than 1000CC they can also fuel up with Petrol.
ya tht is the idea i guess its says CNG will be available for 1000 CC cars means it must be up to 1000 cars means ower-middle level community can have CNG and the guys who own more then 1000 CC car should fuel up with petrol , only problem i see in this it should be band on public transport as well like buses who use poor quality cylinders otherwise its good idea and it should let to complete phase out , So that Gas should be avalible at homes/industry 24/7

this is indeed a very good decision… a person who can afford car more than thousand cc should consume petrol… rather than getting CNG in Land cruisers and the low middle class person who just bought car to fulfill family needs is not b able to get benefit of CNG… So plz people if you can afford car more than 1000 cc than you hv to run it on petrol…

Yeah there are abundance of stupids with huge cars having more than 1.5L engine lining up at CNG stations… If you can buy a car with that much price tag… you should have money to fill it with petrol… A subsidized commodity should be left for the ones who deserve it I believe.

Govt should implement it ASAP. a complete ban on public transport as they are not lowering the fares plus a person who is well enough to own a 1000+ c.c car and willing to use CNG is simply nonsense.
They should ban cars not the public transport we should use public transport raher then our cars .like in singapore ,malaysia,dubai,etc etc everyone mostly uses buses,trains,taxis they should develop a proper and safe public transport system like shahbaz sharif is doing in lahore no doubt we are facing problems due to that system but life will be good after the completion.but we all wanna use our cars .and most of the people have two to three cars and all ov them are on the roads. Mid class person uses to save money for years, maintains comety like stuff to enjoy 1000cc+ car, but its not possible for him to keep it running on petrol, coz that's everyday expense for him, how come he would affoard it??? A complete blend of bullshit, insincerity, greediness and dumb ass-ness… I have seen those big CNG buses that take 20-30 mins for refilling just one bloody bus… 1 bus = 10 cars, whatever CC the car is… they should ban those big buses and public transport for using CNG as they consume more than the normal consumer and still they have fares touching the skies, when patrol price is increased they increase their fares and when CNG price is increased they again increase their fares, there is no bloody regulatory authority to do the accountability…
I am afraid that this decision of banning the CNG of 1000CC+ cars is to give additional favor to the public transport owners, transporters should have given them good price for it…

Sara Yousaf Only corrupt people can afford such huge investment, its wrong . we also have a cng station and we have earned halal and set-up the station. but from 4 months it is going in loss , we have to pay bills from our pocket as we have to give 23.4% tax . so its unfair and we are thinking to sale it in coming future . The first thing is that our so called Govt. earned so much money by giving license to so many people and now when they have gas problem now they are imposing complete ban on it. they dont have a policy they just earn money in every sector. now they are imposing complete ban because they are introducing LPG. They are giving its license of about 4 Crore .

tey r just making oil mafia happy they should reduce deisel price round about 60 to 70 rupees and ban cng for public transport busses which becomes running bombs for peoples lives.but they never going to do that because their pockets r filled by oil mafia bas ALLAH PAK say dua mango kay in ko hidayat milay aur awam par kuch raham karain.
We wish we could have the public transport system like Singapore or other countries but that's not the case in Pakistan, Dear Arsalan.
Does not matter if the public transport is running on CNG or Patrol, they all are charging patrol prices to the general public.
I agree with Wasim that CNG for public transport must be completely banned as it is a high life risk for public as they are using local sub-standard cylinders in their vehicles and all the recent incidents, where many of innocent lives were lost, happened only in public transport. Second, every van or bus has got 3-4 cylinders in it and 80% of CNG consupmtion is done by the public transport only.
If they simply ban the CNG in public transport and limit the CNG filling to 1300cc only it will resolve most of the gas crisis.

If it applied, then that will be the clear discrimination. As per article 25 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan "All citizens have equal rights". How government will allow CNG stations to fill CNG only to those cars which are below 1000cc?
not being personal but honestly bro…U r wrong n the reason behind is that the schemes only in Punjab are not enough for the entire Pakistan.. A 1000cc alto or cultus is far expensive to purchase then a 93' 1500cc Daewoo racer or 88' 1300cc lancer or 74' 1200cc corolla. What is the option for a taxi driver who owns an old 70s corolla or datsun having 1200cc engine?
