Dark Clouds Eclipse Honda Company, More Recalls Imminent
One of Japan’s leading automaker Honda recalling around 900,000 minivans after the company received reports regarding people involved in injuries due to the problem in seats in the second row which is causing the seats to tip forward if not latched properly.
The company has said that it has received around 46 complaints regarding the issue. According to Honda, the second seat of Odyssey minivan might move forward during heavy and or even one apply moderate brake if not appropriately latched after adjusting the seat side to side. However, if the seat is adequately latched the seat will not tip forward.
The recall includes vehicles from 2011 to 2017. Honda is currently working on a way to repair the issue and will notify the owners of the recall through email by late December. Until then the company has uploaded instructions on its website for its customers, explaining how to latch the seat after adjusting it to avoid any kind of injury.
This is not a first case Honda is facing issues in its vehicles. Previously, the company was in peril due to using Takata airbags in its vehicles. Honda Pakistan launched airbag replacement campaign in the country back in March and April 2017 for its customers. Honda came under harsh scrutiny and criticism due to this matter.
It would be worth mentioning here that Honda might also re-recall some vehicles to inspect and correctly install replacement airbag inflators that have been installed improperly. The first recall was made after the Takata airbag issue. Takata has now gone bust due to all the legal battles and compensations and filed for bankruptcy in June 2017.
Apart from the Honda, another Japanese automaker Nissan recently opened its production centers in Japan after closer due to the revelation that uncertified technicians did the final inspection of its cars.
Hope, Japanese automaker cope up with the problems and emerge stronger. Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
