The Government of Punjab is initiating a Dolphin Police Force to restrict the increasing ratio of street crime. The force is being established on the patterns of Turkish Police.

A Turkish Police delegation gave the suggestion to establish a Dolphin Police Force to CCPO Lahore Chaudhary Shafiq Ahmed. The force is expected to be made operational this month. The project was announced back in June’14 by CM Punjab.

A similar police force is operative in Turkey to control street crimes and the success of that force has compelled Punjab Government to establish a force keeping in view the increasing street criminal activities in the region.

Concerned sources revealed that the project has been initiated to derive a new patrolling force, fully equipped with state-of-the-art gadgets and heavy bikes. Sources also revealed that the new patrolling wing would be given 1250cc motorbikes to chase criminals and ensure efficient response towards the matters of concern. The bikes are rumoured to be Suzuki Bandit GSX1250.

A Dolphin Unit Team would comprise of 4 officers who would be responsible for maintaining peace and security in their respective beats. The aim is to establish a police force of international standards, free from corruption and other haphazard issues that have caused trust deficit for police among the citizens.

Earlier, Islamabad Traffic Police were also issued modern state-of-the-art heavy bikes to maintain flow and discipline of traffic with an unbiased manner for VIPs and non-VIPs alike.

Various police models have been introduced in Pakistan for various purposes, but most of them could not prove a success story, however, these police models become a victim of corruption. Let’s hope that this initiative of Punjab Government does not become a victim of corruption and proves fruitful to diminish the growing ratio of street crimes.
