Ducati Panigale – Owner’s Review of ‘Best-Looking Sports Bike’

History of Ducati Panigale: 

The name of this specific bike is Ducati Panigale 1199. It was first produced in 2011 and introduced in Melan Bike Show.  This generation remained in production till 2014, and then company replaced it with 1299 Panigale in 2015. The name Panigale was derived from a small town in Italy.

Engine: 

The bike has a 1198cc engine which generates 195hp and 132Nm torque. Furthermore, it is Dual Cylinder with 8 valves.

Frame: 

This is a frameless bike and that is why its weight is only 164kg, making it one of lightest super bike. At front tyre, the bike has Dual Caliper Brembo Brakes, while its rear tyre has a Single Caliper.  Both tyres have Dual ABS, although there were some models in which the ABS was only offered in front tyre.

Styling and Size: 

The bike has very sharp design with Ferrari red color, making it unique from other superbikes.  This bike is very small as compare to Japanese and German bikes. “Ducati is famous for working on their bikes with heart and soul and that is why its production is quite less as compared to other international bikes,” the owner said.

Handle Bar: 

On the right side, you will find Sensor-based Electronic throttle and Kill Switch. In the center it has Ignition, Front Brake Reservoir, Steering Damper and Digital Odometer. On the left, the bike has Oil for Wet Clutch, High Beam/Dipper, Indicators, Horn and Driving Mode/Function Change Switch.

In 2011, Ducati provided Electronic  Odometer in this bike, which was rare at that time.  The meter shows its Driving Modes, i.e., Race, Sports and Wet, along with Temperature, Mileage, Gear Indication and RPMs. It also shows options of Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Engine Braking Control (EBC) and Ducati Quick Shifter (DQS), which you can change as per different Driving Modes.

Transmission: 

Before 2011, the bike had a Dry Clutch which caused a lot of maintenance issues and company received several complaints. To resolve this issue, Ducati offered Wet Clutch in 2011.

Maintenance Cost: 

As per the owner, he changes its oil after every 1,000 kilometers and it costs him around Rs5,000-6,000. The price of new Oil Filter is around Rs2,000, while its Air Filter is washable with lifetime use. Hence, the maintenance cost of this bike is around Rs8,000-10,000.

Add-Ons: 

The owner installed Zero Gravity Double Bubble Visor at front, Aftermarket Handle Grips, Crash Protectors, Straight Pipe with Toce Slip on and Carbon Fiber Fuse Cover.

Price: 

The bike is quite rate in Pakistan and it is hard to calculate its exact price. However, the ads on PakWheels will tell you the rate of this bike.
