Illegal and fancy number plates of vehicles are becoming a trend that’s why a crackdown was launched against these illegal and fancy number plates in Ghotki. Police in the Ghotki had launched this crackdown throughout the district.
Special teams were made for this purpose under the order of SSP of Ghotki. Ubaro, Ghotki, Panoakil, Mirpur Mathelo and Dhahrki were particularly included in this project. The main purpose of this activity was to stop the illegal activities of criminals. Dr Farrukh Lanjhar, Chief of Ghotki Police said that this launching of the crackdown was done in order to get rid of the criminal activities from the district against the unregistered and tinted windows of vehicles. Due to this crackdown, within a day around 734 number plates were removed, SSP said. Apart from this, lack of non-availability of the complete documents led to impounding of 120 bikes under this crackdown and after verification, several bikes were handed to their owners. Talking with the media, the SSP stated that among the violation of motor vehicles, illegal number plates are one of the significant violation.
This crackdown, however, highlighted a fact that regarding the importance of the authorised and original number plate, owners and drivers of the vehicle don’t have proper awareness which caused more issue.
Motorcycle snatching was also the other significant crime observed. Therefore, it should be highlighted that in any street crime activity, motorcycle remained an important target for the criminals. SSP of Ghotki hence focused more on this part to counter the criminals and to avoid such mishaps in the future for these illegal number plates would lead to a terrorist activity if not controlled.
