Islamabad Traffic Police in action against public service vehicles

Keeping the public ease and safety in view, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) had taken action against the public service vehicles, reports ET.

According to the details, the authority during the last two months issued fines to public service vehicles (PSVs) which were involved in overloading and overcharging fares to the people. While talking to the media, Traffic Police SSP Farrukh Rasheed asserted that 12,205 PSVs were fined in the last two months. 

Moreover, the SSP also directed police officers to do their job with utmost sincerity and efficiency. We are here to provide safety to the public and enforce the law, he added. 

Additionally, ITP is also taking strict action against riders who don’t wear a helmet while driving a bike and also against underage drivers involved in stunts and one-wheeling. The authority has issued tickets to 155,570 motorcyclists who were not wearing a helmet and 2996 underage drivers as well. An official of the police said that the campaign started after Inspector General of Police Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar ordered the police to strictly go after traffic rules violators.

Moving onwards, the authority has also generated revenue of PKR 1.9 million during January 2019 by issuing 64,835 tickets. SSP (Police) Farrukh Rasheed told the media that the department has already deployed various squads for law enforcement. The traffic police are also conducting several awareness campaigns to educate the citizens to abide by the traffic rules and regulations.
