Former Pakistani cricket team captain, Shahid Afridi, rules the hearts of all Pakistanis. Our beloved Lala has made headlines with his cricket and many other shots. This time, he is in the headlines for a different reason: overspeeding on the motorway.

The motorway police have fined Shahid Afridi for exceeding the speed limit while driving on the motorway. Lala was travelling from Lahore to Karachi at over 120 km/h. The motorway police stopped his car like any other citizen and issued him a speeding ticket of Rs. 1500

Lala gladly paid the fine and appreciated the police officers for their fair treatment of all citizens. The officers then asked the cricket legend to take pictures with them, and he did with a smile on his face. Respect!

Electronic Toll Plazas on Motorways

In another news, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has signed an agreement with Frontier Works Organisation to install electronic toll plazas on motorways. The system comes with the installation of modern machinery for operational and management services. The e-toll collection system will help the motorway police manage traffic and collect correct data for toll revenue.

An electronic toll collection system will be smart enough to capture the details of incoming vehicles from RFID chips placed on the windscreen of the car using electronic readers installed at toll plazas.

The same toll tax system is already operational on certain lanes in Islamabad, Ravi, Kala Shah Kaku, and Sambarial toll plazas. Federal Minister for Communication and Postal Services Asad Mehmood says the electronic toll plaza extension project will be completed within eight months.
