MG HS PHEV – Specs & Features
To help you make a knowledgeable decision, here are the specs and features of this locally assembled PHEV.
MG has joined the trend with its all-new generation of MG HS PHEV. The impressive thing is its CKD production, which will keep the price competitive. It’s the new second-generation HS, not the old first-generation HS, that is currently being sold in Pakistan.
Considering its competitors like the H6 HEV and Santa Fe Hybrid, HS gives you one edge in PHEV technology, which results in a surprising fuel economy of 58 Km/l (as per the company). Now this economy, we think its too good to be true, 58 Km/l, even CD70 doesn’t give that good economy. Therefore, if we account the Paksitani road conditions factor, it should give about 28-35 Km/l which is seriously impressive.
The car itself is good. Cabin insulation is up to the mark, and due to wide tires and low roof height, body roll isn’t that much, but it’s present because it’s a crossover in the end. The only downside is the blindspots on the backside D-pillars, which might give you a tough time in the Paksitani road conditions.
Sit inside and hide the MG logo on the steering, and you’ll be confused if it’s a Chinese or a premium German vehicle. Attention to detail is impressive in this vehicle, and the built quality of the cockpit is really good. The seats are PU leather, soft to touch dashboard, leather-wrapped steering and premium feel center console that is inspired from European cars.

Now Corolla Cross has the competition.
It’ll be interesting to see what BYD will price its Sealion 6 at launch.
@Irfan
Corolla cross is a classic hybrid, this one need charging is a PHEV
Corolla cross still no have any competitior
@ Waqas
Like you said, the Cross is a simple “classic” Hybrid. The MG HS Plug in Hybrid is a step above. Being a plug-in hybrid, not only can the bigger battery be charged by the engine like a “classic” hybrid, you can charge it externally at home or at a charging station as well. The bigger battery gives you longer range on EV only mode. In contrast, the Cross cannot be driven on EV only mode for more than a couple of KM.
And speaking of competitors for the cross, the Haval Jolion Hybrid not only is a competitor, its better equipped, has more power and its sales numbers are better.
