Toyota brings its first hybrid crossover, Corolla Cross, to Pakistan against the competitors Hyundai Tuscon and KIA Sportage. This C-segment vehicle occupies the SUV market with its exceptional fuel economy and affordability. Before this launch, Toyota only offered its CBU unit in the market.

Dominating Factor
There are other competitors of Cross in the market, but due to its hybrid motor, only one model stands strong against it, i.e., the HAVAL HEV.
Exterior
Its most pronounced part is the front grill, which is elevated off the ground, and all the character lines are concentrated to accentuate the overall front profile of the bonnet. A unique blue-colored DRL runs through the front of the Cross, giving an amazing combination of grey and blue. In addition to that, it has LED fog lamps, high-beam and low-beam projectors, and parking sensors. However, the hood greatly resembles a Toyota Sedan, whereas the 17-inch rim and side mirrors are sufficient to add character.
The rear profile is quite similar to other SUVs with curved lines, horizontal taillights, shark fin antenna, brake lights, top-mounted spoiler, and rear wiper. However, Toyota Crolla Cross batching highlights the 1.8 X Hybrid logo, denoting the top-line variant. Moreover, smart entry and an electronic trunk uplift convenience for the user with enhanced storage.
Interior and Technology
This crossover has a unique interior combination of terra rosa red and piano black that instantly gives you a premium feel while its orientation is quite similar to the 12th generation Corolla. Its modern cluster and infotainment panel provide access to Cruise Control, media controls, dual-zone, driving modes, Traction Control, Safety, BSM, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, parking sensors, Airbags, ABS, and EBD.
However, it has a roomy cabin area with decent legroom and headroom with comfortable seating that can be aligned and reclined 6-ways. Furthermore, Cross has a sunroof integrated with a black roof liner that allows sunlight to flow in during the daytime.

Toyota Corolla Cross hybrid has a 1.8 L, 4-cylinder engine and a CV transmission. It can generate 72 KV of power with 142 N-m torque. However, the battery power is 53 KV, and the torque is 163 N-m, which gives a combined fuel average of 27.6 Km/L.

The Cross is available in two variants: the standard one costs 9.4 million, and the top-line variant costs 9.85 million.

Undoubtedly a good addition to the local cars arena but timings of its launch matters. It is likely to give a tough time to Haval, though it’s competitor, but it is likely to win hearts due Toyota emblem and price tag, since both are five seater cross overs. Despite Haval has more features and little over in size but for some these doesn’t matter as such. In my opinion, Civic RS is a gone case and so is Sonata and MG 4 and Seres. But it’s Upto customers preferences and differs on case to case basis. Amongst all, Honda seems to be in a difficult proposition due sinking sales with no efforts to survive in sight.
