MG Motors Pakistan has announced that it will start the local production of its vehicles very soon. In a social media post, the company said: “Construction of the first MG Motor’s assembly plant is in progress under the supervision of both Pakistani and Chinese experts.” The statement further read that very soon, MG will be capable of taking the next step of producing vehicles in Pakistan.

A great step forward, not only for us, but for the whole automotive industry in Pakistan,” the company said.

FBR and MG Motors:

Last month, a video emerged on social media showing angry customers at MG Motors dealerships in Lahore. The customers were protesting over the delay in delivery of their MG vehicles. The buyers are demanding their MG vehicles as they have paid the total amount. One of the customers said that MG promised delivery in March, but he have not received the car.

“MG took the complete payment from us, and now there is no delivery,” the customers said. The angry consumers demand immediate car delivery.

Response by MG:

MG released a social media announcement  regarding the various measures they are taking to facilitate their customers, which is highly appreciated. In the statement, the company said that it is angry because its consumers’ MGs have not arrived. “We worked hard in making MG’s entry in Pakistan possible; to ensure that Pakistani drivers have access to global standards and iconic vehicles,” the company stated.

It further said yet the access is obstructed and delayed by the global shortage of semiconductor chips. “Along with MG, world’s biggest automobile brands are facing delays,” MG Motors Pakistan added.

The local production of MG cars will surely be great for Pakistani automobile industry. However, there is another side of this announcement. We think that people who have already booked CBU units, their bookings will be shifted to CKD units, meaning more delay in delivery. How company will counter this issue as there are number of people, who have booked the MG vehicles, but haven’t received them yet.
