The non-issuance of Letter of Credit (LCs) for import of spare parts and the current flood situation have create issues of supply chain for MG Pakistan. There were social media reports suggesting that the MG car owners are not getting transmission oil, while other spare parts are absent from the market. So, to address the issue, MG Pakistan released a statement with caption “Tough times don’t last.”

In the statement, the company said that 2022 has been a challenging year for the world. “Certain factors have caused a delay in clearance of parts at the port,” MG said. It further said that not only MG, other automotive brands are facing the same issue.

Reasons/Fact for Delay

As per MG, these are the major factors causing delay:

  • Spare parts and other essential items are awaiting clearance at Karachi port
  • Unprecedented floods have caused delays in inland transportation

The company has assured its customers that it will re-strategize to allow stock availability at all dealerships.

Meanwhile, our sources have told us that the issue of LCs is resolving as State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has opened them for spare parts. “But current main issue is of transportation,” the source said. It added that the trucks are stuck at Sindh Highway for 6-7 days due to flooding in Indus River.

Earlier today, we told you that Pak Suzuki has extended the non-production days in September. The company has taken the decision due to hurdles in import of CKD kits by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The company will remain its plant shut for three times during this month.

Hopefully, the issue of spare parts for MG Pakistan will resolve soon and people will get accessories and parts for their cars.
