Car & bike sales continued to grow in the month of April
Despite the continuous price hike from the automotive assemblers in Pakistan, the auto sector shows a promising growth.
The recent stats released by Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) show a great increase in overall automotive sales in the month of April 2018.
The total no. of passenger cars sold in April 2017 was 15,863, which has increased by 35.78% in April 2018 with 21,540 cars sold.
However, the sales of the overall bikes have gone up by 17.4% from April 2017 to April 2018 (137,550 vs 161,613 units).
The car sales have seen a significant growth more because of the low-interest car loans and the ride-hailing companies like Uber and Careem, and it is highly expected that the auto sector will see more growth in the coming months, as the new entrants are about to launch in Pakistan.

Cars
1300 CC and above
Honda City and Civic:
Honda Atlas Cars (Pakistan) Limited announced its financial result for FY18 (year end March) with earnings clocking in at PKR 6.49bn (EPS: PKR 45.5) up by +6%YoY as compared to PKR 6.14bn (EPS: PKR 43.0) in the same period last year.
The total units of Honda City and Civic sold were 4045 in April 2018, and if we compare the total sales from last year April 2017, there is a 35.1% increase in the sales of Honda City and Civic on the month-on-month basis.
Suzuki Swift:
The sales of Suzuki Swift on month-on-month basis has increased up to 76.7% with a jump from 301 to 532 total units sold in April.
Toyota Corolla:
If compared to the sales of the same month last year, Toyota’s sales just got increased by 4% in April 2018. In the same period of last year, Toyota sold 4753 units and the total units sold in April 2018 were 4946.
1000 CC
Suzuki Cultus and Wagon R
In 1000 cc category, the total no. of Suzuki Cultus sold in April 2018 were 2085, with an increase of 57.8% from last year same month.
Suzuki Wagon R, on the other hand, has only seen a great increase in the sales, going from 1484 to 3053 on the month-on-month basis.
800 CC and Below 1000 CC
Suzuki Mehran
Talking about the most famous, or infamous, hatchback of Pakistan, in April 2018, the total no. of Mehran sold were 4648 with a jump of 21% month-on-month basis. Last year in the same month, the total no. of Mehran sold were 3831.
SUVs and MPVs
The SUVs and MPVs category has seen a significant boom with 46.27% increase month-on-month basis. The total units of Fortuner sold in April 2018 were 523 and units of BR-V sold were 558.
Bikes
Honda
This year in April, the total no. of bikes sold were 115,972 with a jump of 36.7% from the total no. of bikes sold in the same month of last year, which was 84,185.
Suzuki
With 12.12% increase from the last year same month, the total no. of Suzuki bikes sold in April 2018 was 1840.
Yamaha
Yamaha sales increased by 45%% month-on-month in April, with a jump from 1589 units sold in April 2017 to 2314 units sold in 2018 April.
United Auto Motorcycle
In the same month last year, United sold 25915 units and this year it has sold 34,672 units, achieving the high sales by 33% month-on-month.
